Julia Fox is adding screenwriter to her jack-of-all-trades list of careers. Her new film will have dead bodies and sexy women.
Julia Fox Has A New Film
The actress-turned-screenwriter revealed at the Cannes Film Festival this week that she is working on an original idea with her writing partner Sara Apple. Lipstick Palm is in pre-production and the plot according to Fox is a mix of Weekend at Bernie’s and Spring Breakers.
Weekend at Bernie’s is of course the 80’s comedy about two guys who lug around their dead boss and make him appear alive in fear that they may have murdered him.
Spring Breakers is the 2012 Harmonie Korine film starring Selena Gomez, Ashley Benson, Vanessa Hudgens, and Rachel Korine as four friends on a drug-fuelled spring break. Fox described her film as, “It’s about these two girls and they are in LA,” at a Cannes event for the charity Art of Elysium.
Why Did Julia Fox Choose Those Films?
The self-proclaimed muse elaborated on her inspiration choices and how they influenced her film. “They are classic. One is an aspiring actress, and the other is a nepotism baby — but her dad had like seven kids, so the pool has been diluted. They’re drug addicts, so they are in recovery, but they are always in and out. One has a sugar daddy.”
And while she didn’t want to give too much away, she did say, “There is a dead body involved somewhere.”
Fox also has another movie coming out, one she didn’t write. The Trainer, also stars Vito Schnabel, and Steven Van Zant. It’s a dark comedy focused on a sleep-deprived main character who lives with his mom and trying to achieve his version of the American dream.
Films will always be in Fox’s life as she can see herself directing films someday in the near future.
Julia Fox’s First Time At Cannes
The actress is reveling in her first Cannes Film Festival experience. “My friends always say I would make a great dictator, but what I am hoping they mean is that I would make a great director.”
The charity party she was invited to was also a first for her. Her first time on a yacht. “It’s new for me, but I could get used to it.” And the reporter would be a fool to not ask Fox a question about her outfit.
She wore a see-through outfit that she described as: “I think this is made out of bedsheets; it was late [when she tried it on]. I was like, ‘I like this.’ I am a pillow princess.” Fox speaks more about her fashion choices in her upcoming book.
She started the memoir in quarantine she revealed to Page Six back in 2020. “I want to kind of change it a little bit, just the structure and overall composition. That’s been really nice to be able to do that because usually, I’m a person that can’t really stay still for too long,” she admits.
There is no name yet or release date but if it’s coming from Fox it will likely be explosive.
