'Baywatch' Babe Donna D’Errico Doesn't Mind 'Showing Some Skin' As She Explains How She's Learned to 'Accept' Her Body
On Sunday morning, the "Baywatch" star posted a photo on Instagram that featured herself facing away from the camera. She is showing off her fit figure and her "tush," as one fan called it, in a long-sleeve bodysuit.
In the caption, though, the "Frank and Penelope" actress admitted that there was a time that she struggled to accept her body before she impressed fans with her honesty and transparency regarding how her body had changed throughout the years.
"Acceptance is an interesting thing. We all want it, we crave it, whether we want to admit it or not," she wrote in the caption. "We try to conform to society’s standards and norms and do what is expected of us for fear of being rejected or criticized. We want to be loved, to be admired, appreciated...wanted. Included. Important. Noticed."
"When we are criticized or rejected, it stings. We may act like it doesn’t bother us but down deep it does. We suddenly feel inadequate. Less than. Not good enough," she continued. "We start comparing ourselves to others to see how we don’t measure up. Every single one of us has felt this at some point. Some more than others. I’m here to tell you that you ARE good enough. You ARE important. You’re f---ing amazing. Exactly as you are."
"It took me a while to figure that out for myself. When cancer wrapped its claws around my mother and ripped her from my life, I let myself completely go. Stopped working out. Ate. A lot. Laid in grief for months. Shot a film that called for me to be heavier and so I ate more," she explained. "When I finally came out of the haze of grief I didn’t recognize the person staring back at me in the mirror. I decided my mom wouldn’t like what I’d become so I pulled myself up out of the muck and got my as**to the gym and cleaned up my diet."
Donna went on to say that she lost 40 pounds in 6 months, adding, "The weight loss left some loose skin I didn’t like so I went in and got that buttoned up and have no shame in admitting that. It made me feel better and more confident. People love to say I owe my body to plastic surgery. If saying that and believing that makes them feel better about themselves, go for it."
"I know what it took to get my body to where I want it and for me, that is enough. And so when I got offered to do this photoshoot, the photographer asked what my comfort zone was as far as showing some skin," she explained. "I thought about it. I knew there would be some who would criticize me. In the end, I decided to just go for it. So this is me. All of me. From every angle."
"No, I’m not perfect. But perfect is impossible and boring. I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I am enjoying freeing myself from fear of judgment by posting them," she concluded. "And if you don’t that’s ok too. Peace and love and light my friends."
