Roseanne Barr seems to be holding a grudge against her former Roseanne co-star, Sara Gilbert. Apparently, she didn’t have her back enough.
Roseanne Barr Feels Betrayed
The 68-year-old actress spoke with Megyn Kelly on her Sirius XM radio show, where she dropped a few shocking nuggets about her Hollywood friendships. She went in on her TV daughter blaming her for the cancellation of the reboot of Roseanne.
Gilbert who played Darlene Connor allegedly “stabbed” Barr in the back and continued to “twist” it “repeatedly”. She got candid with Kelly. “It wasn’t enough that she stabbed me in the back and did what she did to me there, but then she would go on her talk show every day and talk about how shocked she was at my racism on top of it.”
She then claimed of Gilbert, “It was her tweet that canceled the show.” In case you’re lost, Barr tweeted something heinous about a political figure and was essentially canceled for it.
Roseanne Barr Deemed Racist
The actress went nuts on the former advisor to the president, Valerie Jarrett, comparing her to a monkey, a racist comment towards Jarrett a person of color. Barr was called out online and swarmed by other people who were offended by her public comment.
Now, she is claiming that Gilbert’s tweet is the one that drew attention causing the show to be axed. Barr recalls to Kelly. “And then she tweeted ‘It’s sad when one cast member…’ something about racist, blah, blah. And I was floored. I was just floored. And you know, but she ends up owning my work and Tom Werner becomes her partner in owning my work.”
Gilbert ended up being an executive producer on the reboot which was renamed The Connors. She called Barr’s tweets “abhorrent” and even expressed “disappointment” in her own triggered tweet.
Roseanne Barr Accused Sara Gilbert Of ‘Ruining’ The Show
The actress slammed Gilbert back in 2019 as well when she told The Washington Post “[Sara] destroyed the show and my life with that tweet.” In response, Gilbert and her people kept things diplomatic.
Her publicist told Hollywood Life exclusively, “[Sara] is trying to remember Roseanne for all the good times they had together instead of what has transpired in the last year or so.” Barr did attempt to restore her good name, she apologized to Jarret.
Barr called the tweet a “bad joke” and blamed it on political culture. “I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks.”
Barr continued. “I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste,” she ended her statement. “I apologize, I am now leaving Twitter.” Many people banned together to blacklist the comedian for her outlandish tweet.
Wanda Sykes was a consulting producer on the Roseanna reboot she promptly quit the show. She tweeted. “I will not be returning to @RoseanneOnABC.” A mere 11 days after announcing season 2 was picked up the cast was putting out mini fires all over the internet.
No need for that now.
