Salma Hayek Spreads Mental Health Awareness Following Wardrobe Malfunction

Actress Salma Hayek is sharing a post about Mental Health Awareness from the Bystander Revolution following her accidental wardrobe malfunction.

May is Mental Health Awareness month, and the 56-year-old actress is highlighting the importance of words in a new post.

“If I start insulting you in another language, you feel nothing,” the “Frida” actress says in an Instagram clip shared on Wednesday afternoon. “They don’t mean anything to you because it’s you who puts the meaning to it. Me, I know what it means, but it doesn’t matter how hard I screamed into you. You might start laughing.”

“Take their words, take away the value of the words and drop them to the floor. If you take that away, they fall to the ground,” she continued. “They never get to touch you. They are nothing.” In the caption, she included the hashtags #MentalHealthAwareness, #MindMatters, and #SelfCareJourney.

“Your mental well-being deserves to be cherished. This Mental Health Awareness Month, let’s unite against bullying and empower each other to embrace self-care, love, and healing,” she captioned the video. She repeated her message in Spanish, writing, “Su bienestar mental merece ser apreciado. Este mes de concientización sobre la salud mental, unámonos contra el acoso y empoderémonos unos a otros para abrazar el autocuidado, el amor y la curación.”

Fans were quick to agree with her poignant video. “That’s what I have been saying since I was very young. The words or insults mean nothing if one does not give them power or meaning,” one fan commented. “Exactly,” Salma replied as fans praised Salma for giving the “best advice.” Another fan commented, “You are such a great woman! Such a real, fun, sincere and wise person,”

“I agree that you put meaning to the words and you don’t have to take on the persons insults. However, it doesn’t matter what language your speaking it’s obvious when someone is trying to hurt you,” another follower pointed out. “Yes, but that's their problem, they TRY to hurt you, nut you are the one to let them succeed or not, you can take away the power to the intention,” another fan chimed in.

Only one day before, the “House of Gucci” actress had to fend off a few choice comments from her followers as she experienced a wardrobe malfunction dancing around in her white bathrobe. The robe slipped while she celebrated reaching a social media milestone: 24 million followers on Instagram. In the video, the 56-year-old actress continued to dance and just blurred out her body in the final cut.

She again repeated her message in Spanish, writing, 24 millones de seguidores, 24 millones de razones para sonreír. Gracias a todos por acompañarme en esta aventura! Paris Hilton, who just celebrated her first Mother’s Day as a new mom last Sunday, dropped a heart-eye emoji on the video. Salma replied with a single dancing emoji beside a black heart emoji. Although the blurry bits were blurred out on the video, one fan asked, “Where can we get the uncut, uncensored version? Asking for a friend.”

“There’s something wrong with this video it keeps going blurry,” another follower teased. “Can we have the uncut version please?” a third fan asked. “Couldn’t let the 24 million people see? How rude,” another follower teased. “I hate censorship,” another fan joked. “No manches! We want the unedited version!” another follower exclaimed.

However, several fans didn’t think that anything actually “popped out” in the video, and she was just trying to blur the video to be funny. “I feel like she blurred it to be funny. I don’t think anything actually popped out,” one fan commented. “I thought the same,” another follower agreed.
