Frankie Grande Reflects On New York City Attack Six Months Later

Frankie Grande is serving up forgiveness.

The “Big Brother” star recently opened up about the time he was attacked and robbed in New York City by two teenagers.

The attack happened in November 2022 while he was in the Big Apple.

A 13-year-old and 17-year-old viciously smashed Grande in the back of the head. They proceeded to mug the Broadway star and stole his Louis Vuitton bag filled with expensive items.

His bag contained AirPods, his iPhone, a wallet, and sunglasses. The attack occurred around 6 PM while he was walking on Eighth Avenue between 43rd and 44th Streets.

Speaking on the red carpet at the 2023 GLAAD Media Awards, Grande told Page Six, “All I can hope and pray is that the people who attacked me get the love and care that they need in order [to] know that’s not the way they need to live the rest of their lives. I hope they get that.”

Six months after the attack, Grande is now in a headspace to forgive his attackers. He admitted that it took him some time to get to this space.

“Listen, it took me a minute, but this is what I do,” he told PS. “I’m an alcoholic, I’m sober, and it’s always about projecting love and trying to give to other people so you receive. So yes, in the beginning, it was tough to feel this way, especially about being beaten… it was crazy, I was beaten, it was wild… but now I’m in a place where I just want them to get help and support they need for them not to do that to anybody else again.”

Following the attack, Grande was fearful of walking alone.

“I got one of those Birdie [personal safety] alarms to pull it, and it makes a loud sound. It was a little scary for a while,” he explained, “but I could do work, do some therapy, and use this amazing app called Innerworld to process all the trauma … and I feel wonderful again. Safe in the streets of New York once again, which I’m grateful about, but yeah, it was a scary moment.”

The older brother of Ariana Grande recently celebrated his first wedding anniversary to Hale Leon.

The couple married in a “Star Wars-themed wedding celebration on May 4, 2022.

“Marriage is amazing,” he gushed. “We just celebrated our first anniversary on ‘May the 4 Be With You,’ so we’re going on our anniversary trip this month.”

Before his wedding, the reality TV star was part of a throuple.

A “throuple” is defined as a three-way relationship. There are many ways someone can get involved in a throuple.

In Grande’s case, a married couple invited him to be part of their relationship. All three people agree on a “closed” relationship where they commit to only dating each other.

In 2018, Grande announced he was a “new addition” to married couple Daniel Sinasohn and Mike Pophis’ relationship.

Grande told Page Six, “It prepared me for being like, ‘You know what? Maybe, I’m just a one-person man.’”

His relationship with Sinasohn and Pophis only lasted four months, but the “Danger Force” actor admitted he’s very grateful for the connection.

“I’m very grateful for that previous relationship, and I think it prepared me for this one, the ultimate one where I got my ring,” he proclaimed. “I think everything happens for a reason. Now I’m an old married man in a monogamous relationship.”
