Former NBA Star Amar’e Stoudemire Demands Prenup Be Followed in Divorce, Reveals He Pays $4,000 a Month to Love Child

Ex-NBA star Amar'e Stoudemire says his estranged wife signed a prenuptial agreement prior to them getting hitched and he wants it followed to a T in his divorce, and he is revealing for the first time how much he pays the Florida woman he got pregnant while still married.

According to the divorce petition obtained by The Blast, Stoudemire says his marriage to Alexis Welch is "irretrievably broken."

At the time of his filing, Stoudemire noted that he was "temporarily staying in Jerusalem, Israel for business, but will return to the State of Florida in a few months, and he remains a permanent resident of Florida."

He notes that they signed a prenuptial agreement prior to their marriage, which covers all issues of property or spousal support. He says the only thing it does not address is child support and a parenting plan.

Stoudemire wants the court to approve the agreement and the terms of the deal.

As part of the filing, the former NBA star had to list any other kids he pays child support for, and Stoudemire notes his recent love child with a woman named Quynn Lovett. He says he currently pays $4,333 a month in support for his daughter, Zoe Renee Lovett, but says that will increase to $5,833 in July 2019.

As The Blast first reported, Stoudemire filed for divorce from his wife Alexis Welch after nearly six years of marriage. The NBA star had been dating Alexis since the early 2000s and the two finally made it official with a wedding in 2012.

The couple shares four minor kids; Ar'e. Amar'e Jr., Assata and their youngest son, Alijah, who was born in 2013.

Alexis has yet to file a response to Stoudemire's divorce petition, nor does she have a lawyer listed as representing her as of yet.

The split comes after it was revealed Amar'e Stoudemire fathered a love child with a Florida woman named Quynn Lovett.

Back in April 2017, Lovett sued Stoudemire for paternity and sought child support for a baby girl named Zoe Renee, who had been born the previous year. Stoudemire responded to the suit by admitting he could be the father and revealing he had been paying the woman temporary child support without a court order.

Lovett accused him of not being involved with the pregnancy and demanded he be ordered to pay support.

The case dragged on for months but eventually settled in October 2017 once a DNA test came back confirming that Stoudemire was indeed the father of the baby girl.

The terms of their settlement were sealed from the public, until some spilled into his current divorce.

Amar'e Stoudemire has a lot at stake in the divorce — he made $161 million during his 15-year NBA career. After leaving the NBA, he signed a deal to play for an Israeli pro basketball team in Jerusalem.
