Max Alexander Is Making A Name For Himself In The Fashion Industry At Just 7-Years-Old!

There aren't too many first graders already have a career, but Max Alexander, 7, can say he does. And actually, he's been working on his craft for years now.

Max is a dressmaker who has been designing and creating clothes since he was four. He recently told PEOPLE that he was Gucci in a past life, which might not be so hard to believe after seeing his work.

Max's mom, Sherri Madison, recently spoke with PEOPLE about Max's dressmaking. Madison said she didn't discover her son's design talent until he announced his interest.

"I didn't notice. He told us. We were at dinner during the lockdown, and he announced, 'I need a mannequin.' He was earnest. No laughing," she said. "I was like, 'Okay, I've never seen you interested in fashion. What are you talking about?' He said, 'That's because I don't have a dummy. If you get me a dummy, I'll show you. I'm a dressmaker.'"

Madison said that it just took off with Max making dresses. With no experience or exposure to fashion, Madison later learned that maybe it's in his genes.

"It turns out his grandparents were in the fashion business in Montreal," she said. "My grandparents and mom were all sewists, but Max didn't know any of that; it came out of nowhere."

At just age 4, Madison thought maybe he was too young to be sewing, but she got out her machine and told him to watch what she did. It only took about two weeks before he got to sewing.

"He was sewing very, very quickly. Quickly after that, he surpassed my skills, so I put him in a class at a local sewing shop. They taught him a lot," she explained.

He also learned a lot independently - designing, draping, and making dresses. Madison said he's "so committed to it," and his studio is "his happy place." She's impressed with his commitment to being so young.

"The unusual part that impresses me is the commitment for such a very young child and his true passion for making people feel beautiful, which he has told us since he was 4," she said. "He wants women to feel beautiful, and that's the drive behind it. He's never expressed any interest in wearing the dresses himself. He doesn't make men's wear. He wants women of all sizes to feel beautiful."

In just a few years, he's been working on his fantastic craft, and his list of accomplishments is long. Max has made over a hundred designs, sold his work internationally, held fashion shows, and even commissioned a jacket for actress Sharon Stone.

The sky's the limit for Max, who has some big aspirations. "He wants to be the head of the house of Gucci, or he wants to have his atelier, Couture to the Max Italian," Madison said.

Max's Instagram page has impressive videos of him doing what he loves. A video shared about a month ago has received more than 1.8 million likes.

The video shows Max requesting specific amounts of material, purchasing it himself, ironing, cutting, measuring, sewing, and more.

Many of his followers drop into the comments to leave their thoughts on all the beautiful things he does at seven years old.

Another follower added, "Um, what?! I wish people understood how impressive this is for his age and in general. Many can't even sew a button back on, and this literal BABY is sketching and designing full gowns. Bravo, little man; your name will be spoken on many red carpets. ?"

A recent video shared on Instagram shows a little peek into the life of a young fashion designer. The video is captioned, "Unedited Max ? A glimpse into living with a tiny fashion designer. #maxalexander ❤️❤️❤️❤️."

One follower shared, "You're living with a legend!!?" and another added, "❤️?? he is so cute and has a bright future ahead of him. I love his passion and dedication to his craft. It's a requirement to be successful and not miserable in the industry. I'm excited to watch him grow and develop his skills."
