Lady Gaga's Oversized Ruffle of Feathers Outshined the Star After 'Best Actress' Win

Lady Gaga was supposed to be the star of The National Board of Review's Annual Awards, but it's her oversized feathered accessory that's got people squawking.
The star won Best Actress for her role in "A Star is Born" and accepted the honor Tuesday night in New York at Cipriani. Wearing a black, Ralph Lauren sleek gown, Gaga looked breathtaking, except for that obnoxious black and gold addition she kept in tow all night long.
Its purpose (other than to make a statement) is unclear. People have been questioning all morning long -- is it a cape? A purse? A boa?
We're told it's a jacket that she loved, but decided not to wear. Regardless, it met some high-profile stars while flashing her fancy accessory.
When accepting her award, she passed the ruffle of feathers to Stephen Colbert for safe keeping. It even clung to the actress when she posed for pictures with Steven Spielberg and Bradley Cooper.
Maybe her new feathered friend will bring good luck through the rest of awards season.
