Jeff Bezos and MacKenzie Bezos are about to split up their $137 billion fortune in their divorce, so it's worth looking at their humble beginnings that actually served as the breeding ground to becoming the richest couple in the world.
Before hitting it big, the Bezos' moved into a modest 2-bed, 1-bath house in Bellevue, Washington in 1994 after they left their hedge fund jobs in New York and headed out West.
The 1,500 sq ft house is on the other side of the spectrum to the behemoth estates the Bezos' now call home, but back then the ranch-style home in a quiet suburban neighborhood did the job.
It contains a great room and a "soaring" 13 ft ceiling lined with pine. Granite countertops and stainless steel appliances make up the kitchen and the backyard is fully fenced in.
It also features the garage where Bezos launched his online-bookstore in 1994 and transformed it into the most valuable company in the world.
These days, the Bezos' are currently working on splitting up their properties, spread out all over the country, including a huge estate in Medina, Washington and a mansion in Beverly Hills.
