A source has spilled the tea on Kevin Costner's internal marital problems.

New insight from the insider has revealed that the two-time Academy Awards winner kept a busy work schedule that quickened the death of his relationship with his wife, Christine Baumgartner.

This update comes barely 48 hours after it was confirmed that the stunning model had filed for divorce from the actor after nearly two decades of marriage. The pair welcomed three kids — Cayden, Hayes, and Grace, during their 18-year union.

Kevin Costner's Busy Work Schedule Kept Him Away From His Wife & Family

Although Costner did not achieve his numerous accomplishments by taking time off work, the end of his marriage indicated that he should have dedicated some days to being with his wife. A PEOPLE source has revealed that the actor's continued determination to be the best in Hollywood is to blame for his union's collapse. According to the Insider:

"Christine wants them to spend family time at their Santa Barbara home. During filming, Kevin is not around very much. His absence has been very hard for her."

As it turned out, the situation left Baumgartner feeling "unhappy" since she did not want her husband "to throw himself into another project," as was his usual style. Unfortunately, things were taken out of her hands as the father-of-four has been spending a chunk of his time on the set of "Horizon," which he began filming last year.

Her husband has been of no help as a different source informed the outlet that the "Silverado" actor has occasionally allowed his career to take "precedence over his home life." They explained:

"Kevin hasn't been home very much for quite some time due to filming, the popularity of Yellowstone, and the time necessary for his other projects. He has been in demand."

Despite the alleged home front mismanagement, sources close to Costner have since claimed that his wife's decision to file for divorce shocked him. Per The Blast, one of his pals disclosed:

"Kevin was very surprised by Christine's actions, he obviously doesn't want the divorce, and he would take her back. It's disappointing; he loves her and his children."

ICYMI, Baumgartner had filed the paperwork last week, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split. In the docs, she asked the court for joint custody of her and the "Message in a Bottle" producer's kids and skipped out on asking for spousal support since they have a prenuptial agreement.

Costner's rep had also addressed the sad situation, stating, "It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired, resulting in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action."

Before the collapse of his marriage, The Blast observed that the "The Earth Day Special" bartender had listed his sprawling ranch for intending overnight guests. He was particularly open to receiving $36,000 from clients so they could spend a night in his spacious property.

The ranch, which sits on a 160-acre land, has three homes, 12 bedrooms, eight bathrooms, and two lakes. Other perks included a trap door in the main suite that would take guests to a jacuzzi with a waterfall.

Costner put the gorgeous estate up for rent throughout winter alongside a team of 24/7 on-site caretakers to oversee things. With this Aspen, Colorado property on the market, the actor took himself to his Carpinteria, California ranch, where he was when he missed this year's Golden Globes Awards.

As it turned out, the area had been hit with heavy floods, and he saw no way of escape. In a video explaining the incident and apologizing for his absence, the "3 Days to Kill" star said:

"Nobody's sadder than us that we can't be there at the Golden Globes. Chris had a beautiful dress; I was looking forward to walking down the red carpet with her. I'm just so sorry that I can't be there. I really wanted to."

He was one of the night's biggest winners, winning in the 'Best Actor in a Drama Series' category for his role in the Paramount+ series, "Yellowstone."
