Shemar Moore Celebrates With Fans As CBS Makes U-Turn On 'S.W.A.T' Cancellation

Shemar Moore had nothing but love to share on social media on Monday.

Just three days after he aired his thoughts about CBS's cancellation of "S.W.A.T.," the actor returned to share the fantastic news that the network channel was un-canceling the six-year-old series. The show, which premiered in November 2017, follows an LAPD Special Weapons and Tactics unit led by Sergeant Daniel "Hondo" Harrelson [Moore] and has over 120 episodes.

Moore has celebrated the revival and return of the hit procedural series "S.W.A.T," which was initially canceled due to CBS's refusal to make a financial commitment that would compromise its model. Taking to Instagram, the "The Young and the Restless" actor posted two screenshots highlighting the good news.

While the first slide showed the headline of its return for a "seventh and final season," the second carried the details of the update. Beneath the post, the "Soul Train" alum enthusiastically penned:

"Ayeee!!!!! We did it #SWATFAM!!! @swatcbs is coming back for a 7th and final season with 13 episodes!!! Thank you to all of you for the continued and amazing support!!"

A look at the comments unveiled that Moore's fans were just as excited to receive the tea, with one person writing, "I just saw the cancel news 1hr ago, and now you're renewed? That's WILD!! Lmao, a mad blessing! Congratulations!"

"Congratulations bro!!! ? blessings on blessings," a second person commented, and a third declared, "We did it SWAT tans. We should all be proud. This is the last effing day ever!!! Glad you wised up CBS and reversed your decision."

Amid a fourth fan telling the beloved actor to "never doubt your loyal fan base," a fifth person shared their dissatisfaction that CBS ordered just one extra season of the show. In the words of the netizen:

"It should really be the Final CBS season with 13 Episodes to buy time and shop OTHER NETWORKS!!! S.W.A.T's story is not over...it just needs a new home."

Others, who shared the same sentiment, did not hesitate to chime in, with this Instagram user noting, "Much rather it go to a different network/ streaming platform for a few more seasons. Feel like the show still has stories to be told." A third person commented, "Now let's get these other networks for season 8."

While we wait to see if the network will be coaxed into keeping "S.W.A.T" beyond the seventh season, Deadline reported that Amy Reisenbach, the president of CBS Entertainment, and Katherine Pope, the president of Sony Pictures Television Studios, issued a joint statement, which read in part:

"We have listened to our viewers and their outpouring of passion for S.W.A.T., and we have reached an agreement to renew it for a final season of 13 episodes to air during the 2023-2024 broadcast year. S.W.A.T. has aired for six seasons on CBS and garnered a devoted following. We are pleased that we found a way to bring it back and give closure to the show's storylines and characters, which audiences deserve."

Moore had shown how the cancelation of "S.W.A.T" hurt him in an Instagram video shared last week. Per The Blast, he started by explaining that he had shaved his beard to give himself a fresh start before saying:

"I've got sunglasses on, late as h*ll at night, 'cause I'm a little bit sad. I'm a lot a bit sad. We got canceled, S.W.A.T. S.W.A.T. got canceled. It makes no sense."

The "Diary of a Mad Black Woman" star then implored viewers to "read the articles" and see that the drama had been the "best show on Friday night at 8 o'clock for C.B.S." After claiming that he and his crew had done what was required of them, he revealed the heartbreaking news of being the "only African American male lead on network television."

At some point in the clip, the Daytime Emmy-nominated hunk appreciated his colleagues and besieged fans to "make some f**king noise" that would let CBS know that scrapping the series was "a f**king mistake."

Although the footage did the expected and got his 4.2 million fans calling on CBS to undo the damage, it also saw people calling Moore out for allegedly playing the "race card" to get his point across.
