Brian Laundrie's mother is accused of new and incriminating actions amid Gabby Petito's sudden disappearance and untimely murder.

Gabby's parents filed new claims in their civil lawsuit against Chris and Roberta Laundrie.

Court documents filed on May 5th allege that Roberta wrote a letter to Brian, and in the letter, she references "bringing a shovel to help bury a body and baking a cake with a shiv" if Brian went to jail.

The lawyers for Gabby's parents argued in the filing, "A reasonable inference is that the letter was written when Gabrielle Petito was as yet unburied, and Brian Laundrie could go to jail for the crime of murder."

Brian murdered Gabby on a cross-country National Parks road trip. It is assumed she was killed on or around August 28, 2021. Her body was discovered in a Wyoming park on September 19, 2021.

Gabby's fiancé admitted to killing her in a series of notebook entries.

The lawsuit alleges that Brian's parents and lawyer, Steven Bertolino, knew Gabby was deceased on September 14th when Bertolino stated to the media on behalf of the Laundrie family.

His statement expressed the Laundrie family's hope that Gabby would be "reunited with her family."

The Blast previously reported on Roberta's infamous "burn after reading" letter she sent to Brian.

The letter reportedly contained information about buying a shovel and helping bury the body and was titled "Burn after reading."

Roberta defended herself in a court of law and said the letter was all fun and games.

Her attorneys filed a motion for a protective order in Sarasota County Circuit Court on March 7th, seeking to block the attempts by Gabby's parents to make the "burn after reading" letter admissible as evidence in the upcoming civil trial between the two families.

Joe Petito and Nichole Schmidt's attorney claims the letter references a shovel, burying a body, and helping Brian escape prison.

To show her support for the letter NOT becoming public, Roberta wrote a letter to the court claiming it was written months before Gabby and Brian set off on their cross-country road trip in the summer of 2021.

"Although I do not know the exact date I wrote the letter, I do know that I wrote it and gave it to Brian before Brian and Gabby left Florida for New York on June 2, 2021," Roberta wrote.

She revealed that Brian and her bonded over books such as "The Runaway Bunny" and "Little Bear."

Gabby's family's lawyers are calling the Laundrie's bluff and call it "frankly unbelievable."

"If the jury were to find that letter was written after Gabrielle Petito's murder, it is further proof that the Laundries and Bertolino were aware that she was deceased when the statements in question were issued," the court filing reads. "If it was not written at a time when Roberta Laundrie knew that her son had murdered Gabrielle Petito, it is at best an odd letter for a mother to write to a son, and Roberta Laundrie's explanation for writing it is frankly unbelievable."
