Miley Cyrus sang her heart out during a tribute concert for late Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell at an arena full of fans and A-listers.
The newlywed hit the stage at The Forum in Los Angeles for “I Am the Highway: A Tribute to Chris Cornell” benefit on Wednesday. Cyrus belted out two of Cornell’s hits, “Hello to Heaven” and “Wave Goodbye.”
Earlier in the day, Cyrus responded to an article proclaiming she was expecting a child, saying, “I’m not ‘Egg-xpecting’ but it’s ‘Egg-celent’ to hear everyone is so ‘Happy For Us’ …. we’re happy for us too! ‘Egg-cited’ for this next chapter in our lives…. Now , can everyone leave me alone and go back to staring at an egg.”
The concert — presented by Cornell’s wife, Vicky — attracted Hollywood’s biggest stars who came to present, perform or just show their support.
Jimmy Kimmel hosted the benefit, which lasted five hours, and artists like Foo Fighters, Adam Levine, Metallica, Chris Stapleton and more hit the stage to perform Cornell’s music. At one point of the concert, Cornell’s 14-year-old daughter, Toni, came out and performed Bob Marley‘s classic “Redemption Song” with Ziggy Marley.
Hollywood heavyweights like Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, Jack Black, Courteney Cox, Kaley Cuoco, David Spade, Josh Brolin (the lists goes on and on) showed their support for the late singer.
According to reports, the benefit raised over $1 million for the Chris and Vicky Cornell Foundation, as well as The Epidermolysis Bullosa Medical Research Foundation.
As The Blast reported, Cornell was found unconscious in his hotel room in Detroit on May 18, 2017. His death was ruled a suicide by hanging.
He was 52 years old.
