Wendy Williams will be taking a long break from her hit show to deal with a serious medical issue.
The popular talk show host gave fans an update on her medical condition on Friday, saying, "As Wendy Williams Hunter previously shared, she fractured her shoulder and has been on the mend. Over the past few days, Wendy has experienced complications regarding her Graves’ Disease that will require treatment."
The statement continued, "Wendy will be under the strict supervision of her physicians, and as part of her care, there will be significant time spent in the hospital. Despite her strong desire to return, she is taking a necessary, extended break from her show to focus on her personal and physical well-being."
She concluded by saying, "Wendy thanks everyone in advance for their well-wishes and for respecting her and The Hunter Family’s privacy during this time."
"The Wendy Williams Show" has been in reruns since December 24 and was supposed to return on January 14 but she pushed that date back a week.
Debmar-Mercury, the company behind the show, said in a statement, "We wholeheartedly support Wendy in this decision to take the time she needs and we will welcome her back with open arms the moment she is ready."
The show will air repeats next week and then resume with a variety of hosts on January 28.
In one of her final appearances of 2018, Wendy Williams acted very oddly when interviewing the hip-hop group The Lox. She blamed her behavior on having taken pain medication before the taping to deal with her injured shoulder, something she said she never does.
