Da Brat and her wife Jesseca Dupart are questioning why they chose a white man as their sperm donor. The couple revealed that they didn't have many donor options after the screening, and there was only one black man.
Dupart took to Instagram to respond to critics saying their choice meant they didn't want a black child. This comes after the couple revealed they were pregnant earlier this year and have been sharing their pregnancy journey.
Brat once stated that she thought she'd never have kids because she'd already had a "great career" and "full life." The couple recently posted a video of their pregnancy progress, showing Brat feeling a kick from the baby.

Da Brat & Jesseca Dupart Chose A White Donor
During a recent interview with The Root, Da Brat and her wife, Jesseca Dupart, they discussed their decision to use a white sperm donor for their first baby together. The adorable couple explained they had thousands of candidates at the start of the process, but genetic screening ruled out most of them.
They claimed that after the screening, only about 300 potential donors were left in the pool, and only a black man was left. Brat said, per Insider, "We didn't have a lot to choose from; he wasn't Black." She explained that the Black guy "looked like Jiminy Cricket" and added, "I was like, "I'm sorry, but that wasn't gonna be my choice."
They Believe They Made The Right Choice
Brat and Dupart also shared that despite their limited donor options, they believe they made the right choice. Brat said, "I think we did a great job with picking. He's handsome, and tall, and I think he will look beautiful with my wife's egg."
On Tuesday, Dupart responded to Instagram critics claiming they avoided getting a black child. In the comments of a post reporting the news of their donor choice, she wrote, per Insider, "Black men make up less than 5% of the donation pool."
Dupart explained that she and Brat extended their decision to get more options. She wrote, "We waited a few weeks to see if the pool increased. But unfortunately, with the time frame we had to choose within 6-8 weeks, there were no more new black donors that fit within the perfect fit with my genetic testing."

Brat and Dupart first revealed their pregnancy in February this year. During an interview with People Magazine at the time, the couple spoke about their difficult fertility journey and shared a traumatic experience.
49-year-old Brat said, "We were so happy, happy, happy, and then it was like depression. I had never been so excited about something I didn't even know I wanted, and then I fell in love with the idea, and it was all snatched away from me."
She further expressed their joy that their second round of insemination was successful and called the pregnancy a "blessing." Brat added, "I never thought I was going to have kids. I just thought it wasn't in the cards for me. I've had a great career, a full life. I felt like because I didn't get pregnant earlier on, it just wasn't going to happen for me."
