Chrissy Teigen has hit back at George Santos for tackling her dress to the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner on April 29.
The television personality took to social media to reply to the less-than-pleasurable attack from the United States Representative, who did not hold back when sharing his thoughts regarding the red carpet outfits from the event. She even went as far as attaching a video to prove that she made the right decision wearing the dress.
Chrissy Teigen Has Responded To George Santos' Criticism Of Her WHCD Outfit
Santos appeared to hold a personal grudge against Teigen when he took to Twitter to share a series of tweets highlighting the "misses of the #WHCD23." Although the thread included other stars like Ariana Madix, Julia Fox, Jerry O'Connell, and his wife, Rebecca Romijn, the congressman had previously targeted a tweet at the mother-of-three. The 34-year-old politician had written:
"The racks at Kohl's & Macy's have to be empty after the amount of off-the-rack dresses I've seen so far from last night," Santos tweeted on Sunday, April 30. "But before we dive into the rack gowns … What in the world was Chrissy Teigen wearing?"
The statement was screenshotted by a critic who shared it alongside the caption, "Now he wants to be Joan Rivers," referring to the late comedian's unrivaled work on "Fashion Police." As it turned out, the tweet caught Teigen's eye, and she promptly uploaded a video that showcased her and her husband, John Legend, on the red carpet, in response.
In the clip, the cookbook author and her man smiled as the paparazzi beckoned on them to pose, and she placed her glittery purse on the long, toned leg peeking from the outfit's slit. The dress was a floor-length number with oversized ruffled sleeves covering some parts of her arm and a deep v-cut neckline, emphasizing her bosom.
The accompanying slit stopped around her lower region, highlighting a string that could be the one-time "Deal or No Deal" briefcase model. For glam, Teigen opted for pink blush, matching lip gloss, and a wavy beach-styled hairdo, which ended on her shoulders.
She left her neck bare, adding two fashion rings that paired perfectly with her bedazzled midriff on her right hand. Above the footage, the former "Lip Sync Battle" co-host wrote, "I'm all for some good sh*t talking but this is a legitimately great dress."
"The Mindy Project" guest star's tweet garnered support from hundreds of fans, with one admitting, "She really looked Good..dress shoes hair..just really Nixe [sic]." "Girl you look fabulous!! Like Santos knows jacksh*t about anything," a second Twitter user chimed.
A third fan tweeted that Santos was just "jealous," adding, "No body, no face, his hips definitely don't lie (●); like him, no Integrity and no honor. Definitely no John Legend."
A fourth netizen reiterated that the New York's 3rd congressional district rep was "just jealous" before claiming that he "wanted to wear that gorgeous dress himself! 😂.” "Do not take any dress advice from one of the worst people to ever grace our lives," a fifth fan advised Teigen.
The Republican Party Member Was Asked To Resign By Chelsea Handler
Following the revelation that Santos had lied about some parts of his life and even duped a veteran, Handler called for his resignation. In a video posted to Instagram in February, the beloved comedian held a copy of her 2011 book, "Lies That Chelsea Handler Told Me," telling viewers:
"I'm here to talk about another notorious liar, George Santos. It turns out lying isn't the only thing George and I have in common."
She noted that she "also got my start in pageants," placing two throwback images of her and Santos in pageantry attire in the video, per The Blast. The "Chelsea Lately" alum explained that Santos was "more than a half Black Jewish gay college volleyball star whose mother died in 9/11 and then again several years later, he's a congressman, and that part is true."
From there, Handler recounted the politician's denial of being a drag queen before confessing that he "occasionally" dressed up in drag. After mentioning that he backed Florida's Don't Say Gay bill, she encouraged him to resign.
The 48-year-old actress added that if the embattled rep refused to resign, he could at least lend "one of his dresses to Majorie Taylor Green."
