Camila Mendes recently spoke out about her skincare routine and why it is so important to her, even going as far as opening up about her hyperpigmentation struggles.

"Whenever I have a blemish, I'll destroy it and pick at it until it bleeds," the "Riverdale" actress told Allure in a recent interview. "And then it becomes a wound that eventually scars, so hyperpigmentation is one of my biggest ongoing concerns," she admitted.

"Before 'Riverdale,' I wasn't someone who wore a lot of makeup or had an extensive skincare routine," the 28-year-old told the magazine. "But when I started spending hours and hours wearing heavy makeup on set, I saw that my skin was suffering and knew I needed to do more for myself."

Mendes says her current skincare routine consists of a cleanser, toner, moisturizer, and sunscreen, but she also acknowledged that her way may not work for everyone.

"There is no 'one size fits all' in skin care," the 28-year-old said. "Pay attention to how your skin responds to each product you try, and curate a routine specific to your needs."

Hyperpigmentation is not the only struggle Mendes has faced. In the past, she opened up about her mental health and body image issues, even seeking help from a nutritionist to help her overcome her fear of food, specifically carbs.

The 28-year-old went onto the Going Mental podcast, admitting her struggles with body image issues since childhood. After season one of "Riverdale" debuted, her body image struggles took over, leading to an eating disorder.

"I would watch every episode and be like, 'Oh my God, my stomach there…'" she told host Eileen Kelly regarding watching back season one of "Riverdale." "I was so insecure, and it fueled my eating disorder."

"When you're in your early 20s, like, your body is fluctuating…my body hadn't settled into itself yet," she continued to say. "I was looking at myself, taking myself apart. My stomach, you know, my arms, my chin, anything — I would obsess over."

Mendes said her struggles took over so much that they interfered with her work. "It kind of got in the way of my acting because when I was acting on camera … it f—s with your process," she added.

The 28-year-old eventually saw a nutritionist to help her overcome her fear of food. "I was terrified of eating carbs," she continued, "and what would happen is I would avoid it for a long period, and then I would binge and eat a bunch and then purge. So it was this, like, terrible cycle. She helped me overcome that by reintroducing bread into my life to be like, 'See, it's not going to kill you.'"

Camila Mendes will say goodbye to Veronica Lodge as "Riverdale" ends after season seven.
