Nick Viall has seemingly responded to Nick Thompson.
Thompson and his ex, Danielle Ruhl, have spoken out on social media following the release of the most recent episode of the "Viall Files."
The former couple used their post-reality TV platform to advocate for mental health awareness. Ruhl, in particular, has publicly shared many of the personal mental health struggles she experienced while filming season two of the Netflix dating show.
Among the causes Thompson has publicly drawn attention to include Seasonal Affective Disorder; the 37-year-old took to his Instagram last winter to provide tips on navigating the disorder. Thompson also refers to himself as a "mental health & wellness advocate" in his Instagram bio. (per The Blast)
On Friday, Thompson posted a TikTok, revealing to his followers that Viall had responded to his previous TikTok wherein he called out Viall for alleged insensitive comments toward Thompson's intelligence and shared his belief concerning the appropriate source for mental health resources intended for reality TV cast members.
Ruhl followed up the next day with Instagram story slides, sharing more of her perspective.
Former 'Love Is Blind' Couple Call Out Viall For Insensitive Comments On 'The Viall Files' Podcast
Thompson and Ruhl's social media content was posted shortly after several "Love Is Blind" cast members alleged mistreatment on set in a story for "Business Insider."
Former contestants claim they had been "deprived" of "food and sleep" and reportedly had their weaknesses exploited; the report explicitly mentions anxiety. Thompson revealed in a social media post he had lost 15 pounds due to the "limitation of food and water." Ruhl also filmed her response to the article.
His Instagram post also mentioned he had started a nonprofit with fellow contestant Jeremy Hartwell; the UCAN Foundation provides mental health support to individuals who have taken part in reality TV at any point; Thompson also reveals there had been no mental health resources available while filming "Love Is Blind."
The production company Kinetic Content denied the claims made in the "Business Insider" article; Kinetic Content claims the company has "rigorous protocols in place" for contestants' wellbeing during all stages of filming in a statement. (per Variety)
Thompson explains in his initial TikTok how he believed Viall's comments to be a response to the work Thompson and Hartwell have put into UCAN and the nonprofit's purpose.
Thompson's interview clip features the former 'Bachelor' lead commenting on the ability of "poor reality stars" to monetize their Instagram accounts. He also admonishes Viall for resorting to "personal insults" in expressing his opinion.
Ruhl Calls Out Viall For Allegedly 'Making Light' Of Her Previous Suicide Attempt
Ruhl posted an Instagram video sharing her thoughts on Viall's comments. In the caption of her video, the 29-year-old informs her followers she had previously reached out to Viall, letting him know her intent to post the video; she did not receive a response.
Ruhl highlights one of Viall's "many" comments: "You are super hungry and about to go to your favorite restaurant to order [you're] favorite dinner, and they didn't have it. Would you kill yourself?"
She later writes, "Not everyone understands how triggering this is. But those who do should not go into the mental health field..."; she also mentions Viall's intent to become a therapist.
"Talk s**t al [sic] you want," Ruhl continued, "but do NOT make light about sensitive subjects you have no right to..." Ruhl later points out several reality TV participants who died by suicide.
Viall Responds To Thompson, While Ruhl Continues To Share Her Thoughts
Thompson later posted a TikTok revealing Viall had responded to him; Thompson shows a screenshot showcasing how Viall had removed Thompson's ability to mention him on social media. Viall's Instagram icon is blurred out.
"...But now, with the heat and realization that his take is out of touch and insensitive, he doesn't want to face the music anymore," Thompson says in the TikTok.
Ruhl took to her Instagram stories on Saturday to continue sharing her perspective.
In addition to reiterating her attempt to contact Viall, she writes, "His entire platform is talking s**t, yet he turns off his comments and mentions when people stand up for themselves."
The "Love Is Blind" star continues, "His entire episode is trashing someone open about how this experience has put him in a dark place. Is his goal to make him feel worse? After knowing people personally who didn't make it. Idfc if it's my ex or not- Nick and I have each other's back on this."
She concludes her post by writing, "He needs to take this slam piece down."
Viall has had no additional response as of this writing.
