Taylor Swift Is Celebrating THIS Band's Songwriting Craft!

Taylor Swift has long been known for her gift of songwriting. Despite her status as an award-winning songwriter, the "Champagne Problems" singer is still a student of her craft!
The 33-year-old, in the middle of her first tour since 2018, recorded two career-defining albums during the pandemic lockdown of 2020.
Swift enlisted the help of three particular songwriters to help her in the process: Bon Iver's Justin Vernon, Bleachers' lead singer Jack Antonoff, and The National's Aaron Dessner.
Dessner was heavily featured in Swift's making-of documentary for her first record released in 2020, "Folklore: the long pond studio sessions," which can be streamed on Disney+; Longpond happens to be Dessner's studio, located in New York!
The duo's collaborative partnership extended to Dessner's side project alongside Vernon, Big Red Machine. Swift provided lead vocals for the 2021 track "Renegade."
Swift Also Collaborated With The National!
Dessner's primary band, The National, announced their latest studio album in January!
"First Two Pages of Frankenstein" was given a ringing endorsement from a particular musician with a knowing pair of ears! The "coney island" singer celebrated The National's big news (the band had also announced the first single from the album, "Tropic Morning News") by celebrating on her Instagram story.
She wrote, "AHHHHHH NEW NATIONAL ALBUM LET'S GOOOO AND SUFJAN AND PHOEBE," and added, "EXTRA BIG HUG TO FOLKLORIAN KING @AARONDESSNER."
Sufjan Stevens is featured on the album's opening track, "Once Upon A Poolside," and Phoebe Bridgers supplies backing vocals to the fourth track, "This Isn't Helping," and is also featured on the tenth track, "Your Mind Is Not Your Friend." Bridgers is fresh off the release of the second Boygenius album, "the record." 'Swifties' are also likely familiar with Swift's collaboration with Bridgers, "Nothing New," from 2021's "Red (Taylor's Version)."
The band's Instagram post announcement also details how fans can buy "First Two Pages Of Frankenstein." The LP is available on standard black vinyl, "indie exclusive opaque" red vinyl, white vinyl, CD, and a digital release.
The National released the full show schedule for the "First Two Pages of Frankenstein" tour earlier this week! The band also provided details in an Instagram post. The summer tour features 27 dates and kicks off next month, on May 18th, in Chicago.
According to the post, several dates for the show are already sold out or have a low-ticket warning notice. The tour will feature Soccer Mommy, The Beths, Patti Smith and Her Band, and U.S. Girls as opening acts!
Swift Is 'Enchanted' By The National's Songwriting Craft

The admiration between Swift and The National is mutual! The National collaborated as a full band with Swift on the aforementioned "coney island," featured on her second album released in 2020, "Evermore."
Swift shared a glimpse into her 'love story' with the band to The New Yorker upon releasing "First Two Pages of Frankenstein."
Speaking to writer Amanda Petursich, she reveals the elements of The National she admires most.
"My love for The National stems from the lyricism and the soundscapes the band creates to compliment them," Swift says perfectly. "There are so many lines in their songs that are disturbingly, courageously truthful. I'll always marvel at how their lyrics can express such stark darkness and wistful romanticism at the same time," she continues. "There's also such a synergy to the deadpan spoken word quality of Matt [Berninger]'s vocals and the vistas the band is creating around him. That entire verse of 'I Need My Girl' where he's talking about her losing her s**t, driving the car into the garden, and apologizing to the vines. It sums up what sets them apart. They set an entire scene," she concluded.
Swift is featured on the album's seventh song, "The Alcott."
Berninger discusses Swift's collaboration with the band in the interview as well. He noted Swift's ability to put herself into the narrative of the song's subject.
"Taylor inhabited that character," he says, of the woman in "The Alcott," a song about a couple having second thoughts following their breakup. "She's always been interested in how [Berninger's wife] Carin and I write together," Berninger added. Petursich notes that Berninger mentioned Swift's curiosity about how the couple feels writing together.
Berninger reportedly told Swift to "be careful but stay true" to their narrative, never to leave anything out for fear of not telling the complete truth.
Dessner also helped write and produce four tracks on Swift's most recent album "Midnights," released last October, including a bonus track, "Hits Different," included on Target's exclusive edition of the record. (via Instagram)
