Netflix Cheer coach Monica Aldamais wrapped up in another sexual assault case. She is accused of telling the victim to keep hush.
Monica Aldama Didn’t Want Trouble
The Cheer star was a confidant for student and cheerleader Madi Lane who told her that teammate Salvatore “Salvo” Amico sexually assaulted her during her first semester at Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas.
The assault, according to Lane took place in 2021 after her now-former roommate invited a group of guys over to their dorm room after a night of partying. Lane insisted she did not engage in the party.
She stayed in her room when Amico entered without permission, climbed into her bed, and began taking her clothes off. She screamed and begged him to stop but Amico supposedly wasn’t taking ‘no’ for an answer.
He proceeded to grope her chest and inserted his fingers inside her before she managed to fight him off. When she went to her coach Aldama about her fellow teammate she said, “Let’s not make this a big deal. I want the best for you and I will help you cheer wherever you want.”
Monica Aldama Said To ‘Keep Quiet’
Lane decided it was in her best interest to leave the team altogether and Aldama’s parting words to the scorned athlete was, “Keep quiet”. If she wanted to continue to cheer at the college level. She also added that her other fellow teammate and popular face on Cheer, Maddy Brum echoed the same threat.
“We don’t tell anyone. We just keep it to ourselves,” Brum allegedly told Lane. She went on to put pressure on the team losing out on Lane if something like this got out. They could be reported, and the program could be shut down.
Lane was able to move on to the University of Texas at Permian Basin’s cheer team and continue her studies there. But she insists that her dream of competing nationally ranked has been crushed because former teammates and coaches “blackballed” her from other programs.
'Cheer' Embroiled In Scandal
This is the second time that the Netflix show has been wrapped up in a shady sexual assault case. Back in 2020 Jerry Harris was arrested and subsequently charged with producing child pornography, soliciting minors for naked pictures, and he also supposedly solicited sex from minors as well.
The former professional cheerleader allegedly knowingly sent 10 to 15 minors inappropriate Snapchats that included pornographic images. The assault allegedly took place between December 2018 and March 2020.
Harris was eventually sentenced to 12 years in prison and eight years of court-supervised release. Harris apologized to his victims, the fans, and anyone else he has disappointed.
“I am deeply sorry for all the trauma my abuse has caused you. I pray deep down that your suffering comes to an end. I'm not an evil person, I'm still learning who I am and what my purpose is.”
Netflix is yet to share a comment about the news. Season three for Cheer is yet to be announced with the last season premiering in January 2022.
