It seems everyone these days is obsessed with "Star Wars," including the daughter of actress Rachel Weisz and actor Daniel Craig.
In a new interview, "The Mummy" actress and the "No Time To Die" star tied the knot in 2011 and share a 5-year-old daughter together. In a recent appearance on "The Late Show," Weisz told host Stephen Colbert that her daughter was so obsessed with the galaxy far, far away that they had to tell her it was broken!
Rachel Weisz Says Her Husband Daniel Craig And Daughter Bond Over 'Star Wars' ... Even Though She's Never Seen It!
Although the "Disobedience" actress admits that she has never watched "Star Wars," she revealed that her husband, Daniel Craig, and their 5-year-old daughter have enjoyed a "father-daughter bonding experience" while watching it together.
"Daniel and our daughter had been watching Star Wars," Weisz said earlier this week. "It was like a father-daughter bonding experience, and they started on the original ones. My daughter got obsessed. She kept saying, 'Google this. Google this. What does Darth Vader look like under his mask?'"
"She wants to know everything, and she's obsessed with mythology," she went on. "I said to him, to her dad, 'I think this is too much for her. It's too intense.' So he decided to tell her that Star Wars is broken."
They told her that "Star Wars" was broken while they were in London. After a flight to New York, their daughter asked the couple, "Is Star Wars broken in New York too?" prompting Weisz to tell her that it was.
Daniel Craig Had A Cameo Appearance In 2015's 'The Force Awakens'
2015's "The Force Awakens" kickstarted the Star Wars sequel trilogy. The James Bond actor had a small cameo appearance as the Storm Trooper who releases Rey's restraints while she is still struggling to come to terms with her Force abilities.
In 2021, Craig revealed that the cameo appearance came about while he was working on 2015's "Spectre." Second assistant director Ben Dixon, who was working on both films at the time, helped to make the cameo come to fruition.
"I said to Ben, 'Part for me?' And he was like, 'Are you serious?'" Craig told Express at the time. "I was like, 'Yeah.' And he went, 'I'll go ask J.J [Abrams].' And he came back and said, 'Yeah.'"
However, Craig thought that he was just going to make a quick appearance standing in the background of one of the scenes. "Thing was, I thought background Stormtrooper," he recalled. "I wanted to do that guy that bumps his head in the original one — you know, that person who drops his lightsaber or something. Then I was in a whole f---ing scene."
"I was like, 'Okay!' And we did the scene and then I just thought they'll loop me, they'll put another voice on it, you know. Then I had to spend like three hours with J.J. on a looping session doing all the dialogues," he revealed. "Like, 'Really, you want me to do this? Get someone else to do this!'"
Daisy Ridley Is Returning To 'Star Wars' In A New Movie
It seems that actress Daisy Ridley is not done with the galaxy far, far away just yet. Earlier this month, at the 2023 Star Wars Celebration fan event in London, the 31-year-old actress revealed that she would be returning to film a new Star Wars movie set fifteen years after the events of 2019's "The Rise of Skywalker."
After the event, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the new film and confirmed that it will feature the open text crawl that "Star Wars" movies have become known for.
“As we move into the future space — this story is about 15 years outside of The Rise of Skywalker — obviously we realized post-war, post–First Order rise of the New Jedi Order, we left episode 9 with Rey making a commitment to Luke Skywalker that she would rebuild the Jedi Order,” Kennedy said.
“And so here we are — we’re ready to do that. And it took a lot of discussion because obviously we’ve been developing stories in different spaces, and television has been a big focus of our attention right now,” she continued. “But there’s still so much interest in what happens after The Rise of Skywalker. So we’re excited to be doing that.”
