Television personality Carlson has shockingly ended his time at Fox News after over a decade as one of their most respected hosts.

Carlson's departure was confirmed via an announcement from the network on Monday, in which he was thanked for his contribution.

"FOX News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways," the announcement read. "We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor."

Another Fox News host, Harris Faulkner, also informed viewers of the decision during a live broadcast.

He said, per Daily Mail, "We have some news from within our Fox family. Fox News Media and Tucker Carlson have mutually agreed to part ways."

Why Tucker Carlson Is Leaving Fox News

The suddenness behind Carlson's departure has made many speculate that internal issues might have been at play.

Those issues seem to point towards his role in the defamation suit filed by Dominion Voting Systems against the network, in which they claimed that commentators like Carlson knew President Trump's election fraud charges were false but discussed them on air for ratings.

The suit, which was heading towards a heated trial, might have led to Carlson and other Fox News hosts taking the witness stand, a situation that would have badly smeared the network.

However, it was settled out of court a few days ago for $787 million, almost half of the initial $1.6 billion that Dominion requested as damages.

Carlson's comments about the January 6 riots, among other recent controversies, might have also played a part in causing his departure.

In the meantime, it is unclear how long Carlson had left on his contract before his abrupt exit, and there is also no information as to whether he would get a severance package.

It is speculated that his salary at Fox News was $10 million a year, per a 2020 reported by CNN's Brian Stelter, although it is unclear if this included bonuses.

His show "Tucker Carlson Tonight" was highly rated among Fox's nightly lineup, attracting 3.5 million viewers every night, which might explain the massive salary.

On the side, he created the conservative news site, The Daily Caller, in 2010 and sold his stake in 2020, three years after landing his own show at Fox.

Since his departure, Carlson has not made any public comments to explain his exit nor discuss what is next for his future.

According to new reports, popular CNN news anchor, Don Lemon, is also departing from the network following a string of misogyny accusations.

"CNN and Don have parted ways," a statement from the news network reads, per the New York Times. "Don will forever be a part of the CNN family, and we thank him for his contributions over the past 17 years. We wish him well and will be cheering him on in his future endeavors."

Reacting to news of his exit from CNN, Lemon wrote on Twitter, "I was informed this morning by my agent that I have been terminated by CNN."

He continued, "I am stunned. After 17 years at CNN I would have thought that someone in management would have had the decency to tell me directly. At no time was I ever given any indication that I would not be able to continue to do the work I have loved at the network."

Lemon's firing from the news network comes after he was accused of being misogynistic towards his co-workers. He was also the subject of a scathing exposé by Varietytitled "Don Lemon's Misogyny at CNN, Exposed: Malicious Texts, Mocking Female Co-Workers and 'Diva-Like Behavior."

A spokesperson for Lemon denied the allegations in the exposé, calling them "patently false." They said, per Yahoo, "The story is riddled with patently false anecdotes and lacks concrete evidence, relying solely on unsourced and unsubstantiated 15-year-old anonymous gossip."

It's quite a coincidence that both Lemon and Carlson are exiting their respective news networks at the same time.
