Will The Menendez Brothers Case Reopen After Rape Allegations Against Dad Surface?

The Menendez brothers are making headlines again as a boy band musician accuses their father of rape.

The deceased father of Erik and Lyle Menendez is being accused of rape by someone other than his sons, a former Menudo band member. Roy Rosselló is claiming that Jose Menendez drugged and sexually assaulted him.

This happened sometime before the entrepreneur and his wife were viciously murdered by their sons, who also accused their father of sexually assaulting them for years while their mother got drunk and high off of pills.

Rosselló drops the bombshell in a new docuseries that will be aired by Peacock that will be called Menendez + Menudo: Boys Betrayed. The former singer teased the news in a promo for the series.

Rosselló doesn't elaborate on how he knows Jose, but Jose worked in the music business in the 80s and 90s, around the time that Menudo was active. He was also tight with the Latin music community because of this involvement.

The singer and his story will be told on May 2 when the series and all its episodes premiere on Peacock. This will be the first time anyone besides the brothers has accused Jose of sexual assault and rape.

This was a huge deal during the brother's trial. It was used to defend why they needed to get rid of their father. They claimed the assault began in their childhood, and it's unclear how long it went on, but it continued even in high school, according to testimony from both Lyle and Erik.

The brothers have attempted several appeals on their case over the years without success; now Lyle, 55, and Erik, 52, could maybe, possibly, slightly have a shot of reducing that life in a prison sentence and perhaps actually get a taste of fresh air.

If the boys decide to use this information to help their appeals move along, they will have a lot of support. Over the years, the case has had spurts of frenzy around it, with civil sleuths doing their investigations.

Many believe the sexual assault allegations and have been calling for the brothers, supposedly victims themselves, to be released from prison. Not only have superfans gone in on the mom Kitty Menendez for allegedly turning a blind eye (according to testimony given by the brothers), but for her alleged popping of pills and staying for the money.

There is a good chance that the outrage will spark again once people see the docuseries; after watching the upcoming show trailer, Roselló says, "That's the man here that raped me. That's the pedophile," as he points to a photo of Jose.

Erik commented on the shocking news from a jailhouse phone call. "It's sad to know there was another victim of my father; I always hoped and believed that one day the truth about my dad would come out."

Erik continues. "But I never wished for it to come out like this...The result of trauma that another child has suffered."
