Michael Lockwood has finally been granted custody of his twin daughters with the late Lisa Marie Presley. Before Lisa's death, she and Lockwood were in an active custody battle, which started after their 2016 divorce.

With this custody approval, Lockwood can represent the girls in the probate case on Lisa's million-dollar trust. Priscilla Presley, Lisa's mother, has challenged the amendment to her daughter's trust that handed control over to her granddaughter, Riley Keough.

Priscilla and Keough have a hearing soon in front of the same judge from Britney Spears' conservatorship case. Despite the legal troubles, Priscilla has claimed during an interview that there's no "family battle" going on.

On Thursday, LA Judge Lynn Healey Scaduto granted Michael Lockwood custody and legal guardianship of his twin daughters with the late Lisa Marie Presley. According to Page Six, the musician's lawyer, Scott Rahn, made it clear in court that Lockwood is "ready, able, and willing" to care for and protect his daughters and their interests.

During the custody hearing, the judge asked Lockwood if he had any prior relationship with the involved parties, and Rahn assured the family is "all on good terms." He said, "Lockwood has a good, collegial, familial relationship with all of the parties involved. He is not only legally bound but also morally bound to protect [the twins'] interests."

Despite this allegedly good relationship, Lockwood never received an invite to Lisa's funeral after her tragic death from a cardiac arrest in January. A source told Page Six at the time that Lisa's mom, Priscilla, ended up smuggling him into the funeral rites at the infamous Graceland.

Lisa and Lockwood officially ended their marriage in 2016 after being married for about a decade. Their divorce triggered several years of financial and legal battles, especially their custody battle for 14-year-old twins Finley and Harper.

In March, after Lisa's untimely death, her attorney, Gary Fishbein, stated in court that the custody case should be dismissed as she's "sadly no longer with us." Judge Healey has now granted full custody to Lockwood pending another dispute to the ruling by one of Presley's family members.

However, the request for dismissal by Lisa's lawyer has still not been officially granted. The custody approval for Lockwood also now allows him to represent his daughters legally. This means he will be able to stand in for t them in the ongoing probate case concerning Lisa's million-dollar trust.

There's An Ongoing Battle Over Lisa Marie Presley's Trust

Priscilla, Lisa's mom, is currently in court to challenge a 2016 amendment to her musician daughter's estate and trust. The change to her will put Lisa's daughter, Riley Keough, in control of the trust and removed Priscilla and Barry Siegel from their co-trustee positions. Siegel was Lisa's former business manager.

The trust includes the infamous Graceland estate and a 15% stake in the Elvis Presley Enterprise (EPE), which earned over $100 million in 2022. In 2004, Lisa had sold the majority of her father the Late Elvis' estate to SFX Entertainment. This sale included the right to the legendary musician's name and image but excluded Graceland.

Page Six report claimed Lisa agreed to a 99-year lease, which means there are still about 81 years to go. Priscilla claims to the court that she was unaware of the 2016 amendment to Lisa's estate until her death. She's arguing for the judge to void the changes, especially since the trust required Lisa to inform her of any amendments.

Priscilla's suit against Keough has its first hearing on May 16th, after a previous postponement from April 14th. The trial will be handled by Judge Brenda Penny, the same judge from Britney Spears' conservatorship suit. A source from the family told Page Six that Riley "never wanted a war" from Priscilla or the family.

Another one of Lisa's longtime friends also said to the news outlet that the late songwriter "would be pissed" about the lawsuit. She said, "She would be so upset that Priscilla is doing this. Riley is an amazing trustee … and Lisa's youngest daughters are in the best of hands with her."

The upcoming hearing comes amid news of Priscilla and Keough sitting down recently for lunch in Beverly Hills. Presley herself recently had an interview with Edith Bowman at an "Evening with Priscilla Presley" event, where she said the rumors of the family feud from "out of Memphis" were completely false.
