Luke Perry was never able to recover from the stroke that sent him to the hospital and the actor died Monday morning.

Perry was pronounced dead at St. Joseph's Hospital in Burbank after fighting all weekend long following his hospitalization. Perry's rep tells The Blast the star was "surrounded by his children, Jack and Sophie, fiancé Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, step-father Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, sister Amy Coder, and other close family and friends."

The rep continues, "The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world, and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning."

The producers of "Riverdale" released a statement after Perry's passing, saying, "We are deeply saddened to learn today about the passing of Luke Perry. A beloved member of the Riverdale, Warner Bros. and CW family, Luke was everything you would hope he would be: an incredibly caring, consummate professional with a giant heart, and a true friend to all. A father figure and mentor to the show’s young cast, Luke was incredibly generous, and he infused the set with love and kindness. Our thoughts are with Luke’s family during this most difficult time."

The "Beverly Hills 90210" star was under observation by doctors and had been kept sedated over the weekend, but no more details regarding his health were given.

After he was rushed to the hospital, many of Perry's "Riverdale" and "90210" co-stars, like Shannen Doherty, shared hopes of well wishes and prayers for the actor to pull through.

His death comes days after a reboot for "90210" was announced, however Perry was not signed on as a show regular.
