Why Cecily Strong Finds It Difficult To Watch 'SNL' After Her Exit

American actress and comedian Cecily Strong has revealed the difficulty she encounters watching "Saturday Night Live" months after leaving the show.

Strong, a longtime cast member of the NBC comedy sketch show, said that while she may not be a part of the program again, she might make an appearance in its 50th anniversary special.

The "Schmigadoon!" star took time out to discuss the "Vanderpump Rules" scandal, noting that there's a silver lining for Ariana Madix amid the messy situation between her, Tom Sandoval, and Raquel Leviss.

The former "Saturday Night Live" host, 39, shared that it's been such an emotional ordeal for her to watch new episodes of the show since she left in December last year.

Strong, who is still the show's longest-serving female cast member, made the admission about her struggles when she appeared on Andy Cohen's "Watch What Happens Live" program.

She concurred with the reality king's assertion as he likened "SNL" to an "ex-boyfriend."

"It was just such a big part of my life, and there are so many people I love there, so I feel like I would just be in a swamp of sadness, just my heart would break," she told Cohen, adding, "I've got to keep my distance."

Strong, who had a blistering 11-year career on the show, called it quits in December 2022. The show saw the mass exit of several other cast members that year, including Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, Pete Davidson, Chris Redd, Kyle Mooney, Melissa Villaseñor, and Alex Moffat.

Somewhere along the line in her "Watch What Happens Live" appearance, Strong was questioned by Cohen if there was a possibility she'll ever play host on the show again.

"What did you think about Molly Shannon hosting 'SNL' last weekend, and has there been any talk of you coming in and hosting as well?" Cohen quizzed, referencing Shannon, 58, who was a former cast member on "SNL" from 1995 to 2001 and hosted the April 8th episode.

"There's no talks of me hosting," Strong answered, going on to divulge that there's a possibility she may return for the series' 50th anniversary.

During a chat with fans on the show, the comedian was asked what her favorite memory was from having Austin Butler as her last guest on "SNL."

She recalled how the "Elvis" actor treated her to a moving send-off while he and the cast sang Elvis Presley's hit song "Blue Christmas" to her. They also paid tribute to her "SNL" career.

"I had a lot of fun here," the actress shared at the time. "And I feel really lucky that I have had so many of the best moments of my life in this place and with these people I love so much."

During her "Watch What Happens Live" appearance, the "Ghostbusters" actress subtly shared her take on the affair scandal surrounding Tom Sandoval, Ariana Madix, and Raquel Leviss while playing a game of shag, marry and kill.

She said she'd love to shag James Kennedy, will marry Tom Schwartz, and will kill Sandoval. Sandoval's 9-year-long relationship with Madix hit the rocks recently when she discovered suggestive content from Leviss on his phone.

Also, on the show, during the "Who's In The Wrong" trivia segment, Cohen asked Strong if she thought people were being too harsh on Sandoval and Leviss or if they deserved it.

She stated that they deserved the backlash while Madix deserved all the love and respect, adding that there is a silver lining for her in that she will never have to pretend to be into Tom Sandoval & the Most Extras.

When asked if she thought Sandoval and Leviss' relationship would "make it," she shared that it started in a "selfish and cruel way" and doesn't appear to be heading anywhere near successful.
