The family experienced sightseeing in the woods, restaurants, and other tourist centers. At the end of the fun-packed, Gaines' parents gave fans a mushy moment. The two posed together on the same street they previously did in a throwback photo.

The mother of five began the lengthy caption by apprising viewers that she and her loved ones finally fulfilled a longtime dream of their family. Part of it read:

"For years, my mother has talked about taking her three daughters to Seoul, Korea, when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom. And for years, that's all it was -- a dream we'd talk about in that 'maybe, someday' way we all do when something feels just a little out of reach."

The decorator then noted that 24 members of her family finally crossed traveling to Seoul off their bucket list in 2023. As the caption went on, Gaines gleefully talked about the fun experience of the trip. She wrote:

"We met family we've only ever seen pictures of. We saw the cherry blossoms in full bloom. We walked the same streets my mother did as a young girl, and then again as a young woman with my dad's hand in hers."

Many of her followers penned their admiration for the Gaines family in the comment section. One person noted, "Wow! Truly wonderful." Another user stated, "Wow - this is so wonderful, and I love how you all made your mom's dream come true 🥰." Someone else revealed the post brought them to tears.

Last November, during an interview, the interior designer revealed that people bullied her for having a Korean heritage while growing up. The trauma caused her to hide that part of herself to fit in. "If this isn't accepted, maybe I need to hide it and play more into the other side of who I am."

The HGTV star recalled she and her sisters, Mary Kay and Teresa bring the only Asians in their "entire school" in a tiny Kansas town called Rose Hill. She divulged how they called her names and bullied her whenever she had rice in the school cafeteria.

The Decorator Had Surgery To Fix a Back Injury

While 2023 is shaping up to be about culture and family for the "Stories We Tell" author, The Blast previously shared how she closed out 2022 with a much-needed surgery for her back. The pain, which resulted from a cheerleading accident in high school, had been troubling the TV personality for a decade.

The Magnolia Network personality disclosed that she went under the knife with a picture on Instagram. In the photo, she covered herself with blankets as she lay on the hospital bed and flashed the peace sign. Starting the caption, she shared how the injury came about, writing:

"I hurt my back in high school from cheerleading- basically a basket toss turned back injury and I've been dealing with it ever since."
