‘Southern Charm’ Star Kathryn Dennis Accused of Drinking While Pregnant by Ex-Nanny

"Southern Charm" star Kathryn Dennis and ex Thomas Ravenel’s former nanny detailed the alleged horror she experienced working in the ex-couple’s home, and accuses her of drinking while pregnant and him of being reckless in front of the kids.

In December 2018, Dawn Ledwell gave a deposition in the couple's ongoing legal battle between the former couple. She started working for them when their first kid was born and ended working for Ravenel in 2015.

It's worth noting, Ledwell has accused Ravenel of rape. He has been charged with second-degree assault and battery and a trial date has yet to be set.

In the transcript of Ledwell's deposition, she is questioned about her time working for the couple and their kids. She claims Ravenel was less concentrated with the kids and would be forgetful, but Dennis was very attentive and affectionate.

The nanny claims that Ravenel had issues with substance abuse and witnessed him drinking around the kids. She said he never did illegal drugs around her but sometimes took prescription pills while drinking. She claimed he did take Klonipin and Viagra.

Ledwell notes he was never violent with the kids but did go into rages with Dennis.

She says she never saw Ravenel vomit in his sleep but “noticed that he was vomiting down the bed, down the nightstand, down onto the floor, and I was very afraid that he would die of asphyxiation or like choke on his own."

At one point, Ledwell detailed watching him on one occasion pick up an ashtray with cigarette butts and throw the contents in Dennis' face “because she overslept when it was her turn to take the baby in the morning.”

Ledwell believed he was capable of hurting Dennis.

In regard to Dennis, the nanny never saw her do drugs with the kids and only smelled marijuana once when a friend was over. She said she found it another time but never saw her do it.

Ledwell was grilled about being concerned about Dennis drinking or doing drugs when she was pregnant with her second child. Ledwell stated, "I did. But my concerns were for both parents because Thomas bought and provided the alcohol for her while she was pregnant."

When pressed about whether she saw Dennis drinking while pregnant, “Yes. It was during her early pregnancy, and it wasn’t very many times. But I recollect very clearly was that Thomas bought the alcohol and handed it to her.”

Earlier this year, Ravenel filed court docs in their custody battle which he first brought up the allegation that Dennis drank while pregnant with their youngest son.

Ledwell claims she stopped working for Ravenel because he made it impossible for her after hiring another nanny and cutting her hours, along with “him becoming more erratic, drunk, drinking and driving.”

She does note one occasion where Ravenel nearly "amputated Kathryn’s hand in a car door. One day he was very angry at Kathryn for not keeping her house clean enough and was pushing over bookshelves."

Dennis is currently trying to get primary custody of their kids and Ravenel is objecting to her attempt. Dennis filed for primary custody last year after her custody was taken away in 2016 for failing a drug test. She was awarded joint custody after completing rehab and staying clean.
