Floyd Mayweather Wants to Stop His Ex-GF Shantel Jackson From Questioning His Friend in Ongoing Legal Battle

Floyd Mayweather wants to prevent his ex-girlfriend from deposing his friend as part of their dueling lawsuits, saying if the man gives testimony it could violate a settlement they reached.

Mayweather is responding to Shantel Jackson’s motion seeking permission to depose his friend, Marc Laidler. He says the testimony would be irrelevant and a violation of a confidential settlement signed between Mayweather and Laidler.

Mayweather says Jackson is trying to ask Laidler about unrelated claims and the deposition should not be allowed.

He also argues that Jackson's request is overbroad and would allow her to see confidential settlement documents.

The fighter accuses her of abusing the court's subpoena power by trying to get the documents and testimony from Laidler. He is pleading for the judge to deny her motion.

Back in 2014, Shantel Jackson – who dated Floyd Mayweather before starting her current relationship with Nelly – sued the fighter, accusing him of assault, battery, defamation and invasion of privacy (for allegedly releasing information about an abortion she had on his social media). He has denied all allegations of wrongdoing.

Floyd recently counter-sued Shantel accusing her of using his credit cards without his permission and stealing his money. She has denied making purchases without his knowledge. The case is still pending with both sides preparing for trial.

Recently, Jackson recently filed docs seeking for the judge to force Laidler to sit for a deposition and answer questions about Floyd. She believes he has information that will help her case.

She believes Laidler has information that pertains to her claims Mayweather “engineered the theft of her personal property from a storage unit in Glendale, California.”

In her suit, Jackson explains she broke up with Mayweather originally in 2013 and moved out of his Nevada home to Los Angeles. She put the majority of her stuff in a storage unit but then Mayweather persuaded her to move back to Vegas and resume their relationship.

She believes Floyd Mayweather directed someone to steal large quantities of her property and only realized it months later. Jackson claims that Mayweather even admitted to having the items taken and then promised to return only if she followed his wishes.

Jackson says her own investigation indicated Laidler was involved in the theft and wants to grill him about it. She thinks the man also will be able to explain where her property was disposed, Mayweather’s motives and credibility as a witness and Mayweather’s reputation for violence.

She is asking for him to turn over all records including information on whether Floyd had the property handed over to one of his baby mamas Melissa Brim.

Jackson is also wanting to know if Laidler has documents relating to any claim by Laidler that Floyd Mayweather committed or directed any other person to commit any violent act upon Laidler at any point.
