Ripa's ascension to host of "Live!" didn't come without its share of turmoil, as she shared that she had to endure some seemingly sexist working conditions during her early days at the news network.

During a recent interview with Variety, she opened up about her struggle for decent office space, a private bathroom, and other benefits at the news network during her early days.

Ripa shared that getting an office space even after four years at ABC was an ordeal, as the unoccupied spaces were "reserved" for executives from the West Coast.

Ripa claimed that she was met with some resistance from ABC's executives, as they told her they were "saving" the space.

"I said, 'Saving it for what?' And they go, 'Well, for when the new guy comes,'" she said. "And I looked at them and said, 'I am the new guy. I just moved my things. I forced my way into the office because I couldn't understand how I would still be in the janitor's closet, and somebody new would come in and get the office."
