Autry Museum Considering Pulling Michael Jackson Exhibit Featuring His Cowboy Gear

Michael Jackson is the King of Pop, but he was also a little bit country, and now some of his famous Western outfits may be put out to pasture after being on display for years in a Los Angeles museum.

The Autry Museum of the American West has had an exhibit on display since 2010 showcasing some of MJ's famous cowboy-style threads. Protected behind glass cases, guests have been able to view Jackson's bib front Western shirts, as well as the guitar belt buckle he used to promote "Beat It" back in 1982.

Some of the outfits were also worn on MJ's old variety show with his family, "The Jacksons," that aired in the '70s.

Sources at the Autry Museum tell The Blast they have been seriously considering removing the exhibit in response to the recent allegations in HBO's documentary, "Leaving Neverland."

A rep for the museum tells us, "We are currently having internal discussions about the display of objects on loan from Michael Jackson’s costume designer."

The rep adds, "As a museum we wrestle with how we should present the complicated and often contested histories of public figures such as Jackson."
