Lipa recently reposted the movie's second trailer, originally released on April 4th and reshared by the "Barbie" official Instagram account. The page previously followed Lipa before she announced her role in the film, leading to fan speculations that she would be a cast member.
The "New Rules Singer" is set to "blow" viewers away with her performance and recording of the theme song. After her mermaid role in Barbieland, Lipa will star in another film set to release this year.

Dua Lipa Will Star As A Mermaid In The New 'Barbie' Film
The "Levitating" singer will explore a new dimension of her career as an actress in "Barbie." The poster shows Lipa in blue pearly accessories, blue attire, and complementary blue hair to match the fit. The blue shell in the middle of her waist and the shimmery eyeshadow added an exciting touch to the look.
Lipa captioned the post, which gathered nearly 3 million likes, "This Barbie is a mermaid." The highly anticipated film previously hinted at Lipa's feature when the official Barbie account followed her on Instagram. Details of her role in the movie are yet to be revealed, but fans are excited about her acting debut.
They expressed this in the comment section of the 27-year-old's post. A fan commented, "Yeyyyy! Love the lead actor and actress in the [barbie] movie and now even more excited because in my house WE ALL LOVE @dualipa," adding a mermaid and heart emoji.
Margot Robbie Calls 'Barbie' A 'Different' Kind Of Film
Robbie, popularly known for her role as Harley Quinn, revealed some news about the "Barbie" movie to E! News at the 2023 Golden Globe Awards.
In response to whether the movie would be as good as her Oscar-nominated film "Babylon," Robbie explained that "Barbie" was a "different" kind of film. While the former focused on the rise and fall of Hollywood stars in the 1920s, Gerwig's movie has a distinct plot. Robbie said, "It's still gonna blow your mind, just in a different way."
It follows the main character, Barbie (played by Robbie), who was expelled from the fictional Barbieland for looking less plastic. She then goes off to find a better life among humans, along with Ken (played by Ryan Gosling) and other exciting characters.
The 'Barbie' Trailer Was Recently Released
The second official trailer for the film was released on April 4th and showed a little insight into the plot. While the first trailer introduced viewers to Barbieland, it didn't reveal much about the storyline. The new one offers a glimpse of Barbie and Ken's struggles in the human world.
The film, written and directed by Gerwig and her husband, will feature a line of A-listers, including Will Ferrell, Issa Rae, America Ferreira, Nicola Coughlan, and Simi Liu. Gerwig told Variety that she was afraid to proceed with the film. However, the uncertainty of failing or succeeding made it a more exciting challenge.
She said, "That feeling I had was knowing it would be exciting terror. Usually, that's where the best stuff is. I am terrified of that. Anything where you're like, 'This could be a career-ender,' then you're like, 'OK, I probably should do it.'"
Dua Lipa Set To Star In Another Film This Year
Asides from the "Barbie" movie, Dua Lipa will also star in "Argyle," a Matthew Vaughn thriller set for release later this year. While a release date is yet to be announced, fans have gotten a first look at the singer in her upcoming role.
In recently released stills from Apple TV+, Lipa is in a gold dress and blonde wig, holding on tightly to her co-star Henry Cavill. The "Be The One" singer will also create original music for the film's title track and score.
Along with Cavill and Lipa, "Argyle" also features Bryce Dallas Howard, Bryan Cranston, Samuel L. Jackson, and Catherine O'Hara. The film is based on a yet-to-be-released novel by author Elly Conway and follows a successful novelist who is revealed to be a world-class spy with amnesia.
