On Thursday night, former U.S. President Donald Trump was indicted by a Manhattan grand jury on more than thirty counts related to business fraud.

This is the first time in U.S. history that a U.S. president – current or former – has faced criminal charges. The indictment is under seal; however, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office has been investigating his hush money payment to adult film storm Stormy Daniels.

On his Truth Social platform, the former POTUS was irate about his indictment. In several statements, as shared by CNN, Trump claimed that the indictment was “Political Persecution and Election Interference at the highest level in history.”

“I believe this Witch-Hunt will backfire massively on Joe Biden,” Trump said. “The American people realize exactly what the Radical Left Democrats are doing here. Everyone can see it. So our Movement, and our Party – united and strong – will first defeat Alvin Bragg, and then we will defeat Joe Biden, and we are going to throw every last one of these Crooked Democrats out of office so we can MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Although some were surprised and caught off guard by the indictment, many late-night hosts took a moment to celebrate the occasion. “The Late Show” host Stephen Colbert even brought out ice cream to celebrate the event.

Stephen Colbert Celebrates Donald Trump Indictment With Ice Cream

Colbert opened his show by saying that he was feeling a little “extra American” while celebrating baseball’s opening day.

Even though it was still a cool 40 degrees in New York, Colbert said that he still had a good reason to celebrate and eat ice cream out of a baseball helmet because “three minutes, before I walked out on this stage here, the New York Times reported that a New York Jury voted to indict former President Donald J. Trump.”

The news was met with loud cheering from the audience. Colbert then picked up an overturned baseball hat filled with ice cream and a large dollop of whipped cream and sprinkles. Before digging it, he picked up the can of whipped cream and squirted it right in his mouth as the audience gave a standing ovation.

“That’s right,” Colbert continued. “He’s right. We’re finally saying Merry Christmas again.” Colbert admitted that he didn’t know that this day would ever come before admitting, “I didn’t know it would feel this good.”

Jimmy Kimmel Thought That The Day Would Never Come!

"Jimmy Kimmel Live" host Jimmy Kimmel also marked the occasion by walking out on stage and hugging an American flag.

In the caption, he wrote, "A day many of us thought would never come!"

Like Colbert, Kimmel admitted that he only found out about Donald Trump's indictment about two minutes before walking on stage. During his opening monologue, which can be seen above, Kimmel made several jokes about the former President, like saying that the "J" in Donald J. Trump now stands for "Jail."

“He’s going to be read his Miranda Rights. Wait until he finds out that all this time he had the right to be silent,” Kimmel quipped. Later on, he suggested some new alternative reality series for Trump, including, "The Celebrity Apprehentice," "Arrested Developer," and "The Biggest Loser."

Seth Meyers Had Already Taped His Show Before The News Broke!

Unfortunately for host Seth Meyers, he just missed the mark. The “Late Night With Seth Meyers” tweeted, “We live in crazy times, right?” along with a photo of Seth Meyers looking into the camera. “TFW They indict Trump right after you tape your show,” the text read.
