Keanu Reeves has appreciated his "John Wick: Chapter 4" helpers!
The actor, who has a trademark as one of the most generous celebrities, showed that side when he gifted the film's stunt performers hilarious yet unforgettable shirts. The T-shirts bore the number of times each stunt performer had died throughout the Hollywood project, which for some was over 20. The move comes to a couple of years after he reportedly celebrated the end of production by presenting members of his stunt team with Rolex Submariners.
Keanu Reeves Gifts His Stunt Team With T-Shirts To Show His Appreciation
Although earning the badge "the nicest guy in Hollywood" is no easy feat, Reeves has continued upholding the status. Fight coordinator Jeremy Marinas illuminated his latest act of kindness during a recent conversation about scenes from the action film.
Focusing on the fight scene, which happens on the staircase leading to the Sacré-Cœur Basilica in Paris and involves 35 stunt persons, Marinas began:
"It’s like, of course, that’s what you want. You want 100 guys falling down the stairs, and you want me to make every reaction and fall different. Of course, you do. It was like we were just [at] another day at work."
The cast and crew spent seven nights shooting the staircase fight, with each stunt person probably getting "killed" four or five times. Their efforts were not wasted, as the coordinator added, per The Independent:
"At the end of the shoot, Reeves made T-shirts for the stunt performers emblazoned with the number of times they were slain over the course of the entire movie."
Reeves had first shown his gratitude for his on-screen fighters when he invited four of them to dinner after filming for the fourth installment of the franchise wrapped up in 2021.
While there, the Canadian superstar reportedly gifted each guest — Jeremy Marinas, Li Qiang, Dave Camarillo, and Bruce Concepcion — their own Rolex watch, with one of them estimated to cost almost $10,000 (£7,000).
Fans are eager to see what the "My Own Private Idaho" indie star would do for his stunt team following the incredible success of "John Wick 4." The Blast shared that the film, released on Friday, March 24, became an absolute hit, grossing $73.5 million — its highest yet — during its opening weekend.
Overseas, the neo-noir motion picture brought in another $64 million, bringing its worldwide total to a whopping $137 million. Additionally, it has a 95% score on Rotten Tomatoes, a 78% score on Metacritic, and a 96% audience score.
The Teen Choice Awards Winner Shares Tribute For His Co-Star Who Died On March 17
The Blast reported that Reeves, alongside the franchise's director Chad Stahelski, publicly addressed the loss of his "John Wick" co-star Lance Reddick after the latter died from natural causes in his home.
Until his death, Reddick was a well-known face in the franchise, having played the character of Charon in all four installments. In the joint statement, Reeves and Stahelski wrote:
"We are deeply saddened and heartbroken at the loss of our beloved friend and colleague Lance Reddick. He was the consummate professional and a joy to work with. Our love and prayers are with his wife Stephanie, his children, family, and friends."
After revealing that the franchise's latest part would be dedicated to the "Resident Evil" star's "loving memory," the duo concluded that they "will miss him dearly." Other co-stars subsequently shared their tributes to the "White Men Can't Jump" actor, with Ian McShane expressing his "total shock and disbelief" over the sad news.
The 80-year-old, also called the "White House Down" star "a wonderful human being and a wonderful colleague." Reddick's co-star from "The Wire," Wendell Pierce, lauded him for being "a man of great strength and grace," adding:
"The epitome of class. An [sic] sudden unexpected sharp painful grief for our artistic family. An unimaginable suffering for his personal family and loved ones. Godspeed my friend. You made your mark here. RIP."
The "Bosch" actor's death was confirmed by his rep, who asked onlookers to accord his family some privacy and respect as they grieved their loss. Reddick is survived by his wife Stephanie and their two children — Yvonne Nicole and Christopher.
