Jen Shah got one year removed from her sentence after beginning her prison time at the Texas prison in February. The TV personality was charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud in 2021 and convicted in 2022.

Shah and her accomplice Stuart Smith initially denied the allegations before pleading guilty to the charge. According to Shah's lawyer, the "Real Housewives Of Salt Lake City" star feels terrible for her victims and is committed to making them "whole."

She can't wait to return to her everyday life after completing her five-and-a-half-year sentence. The reality star also left an emotional statement for her victims and depends on her family's support to keep her going.

Jen Shah Got One Year Off Her Sentence

According to People Magazine, 49-year-old Shah got one year removed from her sentence a month after resuming her time at the Bryan Federal Prison Camp Texas. While the ruling was originally 78 months long, the Federal Bureau of Prisons' inmate database reported that she would be free to go on August 30th, 2028.

Shah's sentence followed several accusations of which the court found her guilty. They included money laundering, conspiracy, and wire fraud relating to telemarketing. After initially pleading not guilty, Shah admitted to taking money from thousands of elderly people in July 2022. The reality star will now serve 5.5 years for her crimes instead of the convicted initial 6.5 years.

Along with her sentence, Shah was mandated by the court to pay $ 6.5 million in reimbursement to her defrauded victims. Before admitting to the allegations, Shah got a unique tattoo on her right hand to remember her family while behind bars. She inked the names of her husband and sons, Sharrief, Omar, and Sharrief Jr.

Jen Shah Is Doing Well In Prison

According to her lawyer Priya Chaudhry, Shah is coping well with her sentence after a month. The star "remains committed to making her victims whole" after admitting to her crimes. Chaudhry told People that Shah had taken steps towards clearing up the restitution debt.

The attorney is eager for Shah to complete her sentence and return to her everyday life. She said, "We hope to have her home as soon as possible so that she may resume life with her family and work, putting this chapter of her life behind her." Although Shah's team tried to dismiss the charges in August 2021, the court disagreed.

Since she reported to the prison, Shah has updated fans on her sentence. The star revealed she felt out of place and wanted to be elsewhere. She then noted that she would "stop [herself] from going down this self-destructive path of thinking." Shah reminded herself that her "bad decisions" got her there.

She Apologized To Her Victims

During her trial, Shah apologized to her victims for her fraudulent actions and promised to make things right. She said, "I am sorry. My actions have hurt innocent people." While remorseful, Shah noted she was "doing all I can to earn the funds to pay restitution."

Her lawyer reiterated her commitment to paying back the money as she noted that Shah was ready to "make restitution to those whose lives she has impacted." Chaudhry also stated that Shah was "committed" to serving her time in prison with no objections.

While it is her first time, she is ready to face this phase of her life with "courage and purpose." Chaudhry added that her determination was "fueled by her desire to make amends for the hurt she has caused and to help others in her new community."

Shah's lawyer, Chaudhry, revealed that prison isn't easy for her client, as it is not the life she was used to. Per People, she noted that Shah is going through a mentally and physically challenging time that would take strength to overcome.

To overcome this, Shah depends on the "unwavering love and support of her family and friends." The star can't wait to learn from her experience and "emerge" a better version of herself "who makes a positive impact on others."
