Bad Bunny Hit With $40 Million
Bad Bunny has found himself embroiled in a suit filed by his ex-lover Hernández whom he dated on and off between 2011 and 2017, per Page Six.
The female attorney based in Puerto Rico sued the Latin trap and reggaetón singer for using her "distinguishable voice" in "songs, records, promotions, worldwide concerts, television, radio, and social and musical platforms" without her consent.
Her claim referenced her now famous voice note, saying "Bad Bunny, baby," which she recorded for her singer. He allegedly tried to pay her $2000 for the recording last year, but she turned down the deal.
Per reports, Bad Bunny has used the recording in his tracks "Pa Ti" and "Dos Mil 16." Both songs have amassed hundreds of millions of streams on Spotify, making them among the singer's top hits since he debuted in the music industry.
Hernandez is now seeking at least $40 million as reparations.
His Ex-Girlfriend Feels Traumatized
The court docs also stated that Hernandez is facing emotional trauma as the usage of the recording has brought her unnecessary probe from the media and other outsiders.
"Since then, thousands of people have commented directly on Carliz's social media networks, as well as every time she goes to a public place, about the 'Bad Bunny, baby.' This has caused, and currently causes, that De La Cruz feels worried, anguished, intimidated, overwhelmed and anxious," the lawsuit read.
Since the suit was filed, Bad Bunny has kept mum about the situation, seemingly preferring to deal with the issue via the court.
Also, Hernandez has yet to offer any press interviews to further elaborate on why she is suing the singer now.
Bad Bunny & Carliz De La Cruz Hernandez's Relationship
The couple began dating in 2011, following which they gained admission to the University of Puerto Rico.
Around the same time, Bad Bunny started pursuing a music career and often sought Hernandez's feedback on his songs, per reports. She also offered him help on the logistics part of his career, including scheduling and bookkeeping.
They took their relationship further in 2015, getting engaged after four years of dating. However, they broke up when Bad Bunny landed his major record label deal with Rimas Entertainment, while Hernandez moved on to law school to continue her education.
They briefly resumed their romance in 2017 but split up that same year and have not reconciled.
Is Bad Bunny Dating Kendall Jenner?
Now, Bad Bunny has been linked with one of the Kardashians, Jenner, after the two were spotted hanging out together.
Last month, they had dinner together at Wally's, Beverly Hills, Calif., but reportedly left the food house via different exits.
Gossip blog Duex Moi also claimed that the model was seen playing tonsil hockey at a night club with the Grammy Award singer some night before their dinner outing. It was also reported that they left the club in different vehicles.
Neither Bad Bunny nor Jenner has yet to comment on their relationship status. Amid the rumors, Jenner's ex, NBA player Devin Booker, 26, has deleted from his Instagram page all images of the model.
The duo called it quits in November 2022 after dating on and off since 2020.
"Both have incredibly busy schedules right now with their careers, and they've decided to make that a priority," a source explained the reason behind the breakup, per Page Six.
