Former talk-show host Wendy Williams was recently seen drinking at a New York City gay bar right after her stint in rehab. For the majority of her career, Williams has struggled with drug and alcohol addiction.
Williams is reportedly working on some other projects, including a reality show and a podcast that she has been hinting at for some time.
Read on for more details.
Wendy Williams Was Seen Drinking
According to Page Six, Williams spent a night out at a New York City gay bar, Townhouse. The former "Wendy Williams Show" host was reportedly on a drinking spree as she was earlier seen at the restaurant, Fresco, by Scotto before ending up at Townhouse.
"Naughty But Nice" podcast host Rob Shuter, who Williams ran into at Fresco, shared some details about their night out, saying, "We had a bite, we had some drinks, but then when we were getting ready to say goodbye, Wendy didn't really want us to leave."
Shuter added that that was when Williams pitched the idea of going to a bar. "She kept saying she wanted to get drunk tonight," another diner told Page Six. "She wasn't hiding her drinking."
The entire group then moved on and went to a gay bar, where Williams asked a doorman, "Do you watch 'The Wendy Williams Show?" I'm Wendy Williams."
A source told the news outlet that she posed for pictures with the gay men and that everywhere "exploded" upon her arrival.
Wendy Williams' Struggle With Substance Abuse
News of Williams's cocktail lounge visit comes after she left rehab last year for her substance abuse addiction. "It's gotten worse," a source told Page Six at the time. "She went from wine to straight-up vodka."
After a disagreement with her production company, Debmar-Mercury, she reportedly entered an undisclosed rehab facility in September last year.
Williams's addiction worsened after the production company allegedly refused to "get" her help.
"They turned their backs on her," a source claimed. "They had too much control over someone so vulnerable."
Kevin Hunter, her ex-husband, said in the past that Debmar-Mercury refused to assist because they wanted her to continue hosting her well-known show.
"Debmar would not support Wendy's recovery efforts with the family," Hunter told the news outlet. "They would not sign off on anything that would've helped her recovery efforts."
She Opened Up About Her Weight Concerns
According to the Daily Mail, the "Think Like A Man" actress opened up about her weight following the wave of concerns from fans about her health.
"I went to the doctor and I weigh 138, pretty right?" She said as she made her way into the restaurant, Fresco By Scotto.
Fans were concerned about her after she was seen leaving a New York City building disoriented while also showing off her slim frame in a pair of small denim cut-off shorts.
Williams, who has several medical conditions, such as lymphedema and Graves' disease, displayed her trim waist as she spoke to photographers about attempting to look younger, according to the news outlet.
Wendy Williams Says She's 'Formerly Retired'
According to People, William's assistant said she was concerned about her health months after being discharged from a wellness center.
"Wendy is living a healthy, holistic lifestyle," her publicist said.
"She regularly attends the gym and is focused on her overall wellness at this time... travel is a part of her enjoyment," Zanotti shares.
Williams was seen shopping for groceries for her pet, where she stopped to chat with paparazzi.
"I'm shopping for kitty litter because I have a wax museum in Paris and one in California," the television personality said per People. "I'm going for a week in Paris and then three weeks in California and then immediately fly back."
She added, "And then I want to be on TV, stuff like Seth Meyers, Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, The View, stuff like that. I am formerly retired."
