Surprise! Walt Disney World's Newest 'TRON' Coaster Soft Opens

Walt Disney World's newest coaster – TRON Lightcycle / Run – was set to open on April 4 to Guests, however, the Parks surprised fans with a soft opening, allowing Guests to power through on Team Blue several days early.

Cast Members and Annual Passholders were able to experience the new ride through an early access preview, but today, any Disney World Guest had the opportunity to hop on TRON Lightcycle / Run -- so long as they had secured a Virtual Queue or paid for a Lightning Lane -- both of which booked up extremely fast.

As previously reported, if Guests want to ride the new TRON rollercoaster when it opens to the public, they must use the Virtual Queue system Disney has implemented. Disney has stated, “A virtual queue will be in place when TRON Lightcycle / Run opens on April 4, 2023. Guests will need to use the My Disney Experience app to enter the attraction. A standby queue will not be available. Each Guest can enter the virtual queue no more than once per day during regular park hours. Boarding groups for a virtual queue are limited, subject to availability, and are not guaranteed.”

Guests also have the option to purchase Individual Lightning Lane to gain entry for this attraction once it opens.

This morning, when TRON Lightcycle / Run's soft opening Virtual Queue at 7 a.m., they all were completely booked within one minute. In regard to all Individual Lightning Lane spots, which were priced at $20 per person, were also completely booked within twenty minutes of it opening.

For those Guests who were not lucky enough to secure a spot via Virtual Queue or Lightning Lane, the soft opening will continue from today through April 2, meaning Guests may have even more opportunities to ride the newest attraction at Magic Kingdom. It is important to note that soft openings do often operate at irregular intervals, meaning it is unclear which days the attraction will be running.

Guests are excited for when TRON Lightcycle / Run opens at Magic Kingdom as Disney Parks have stated that it will be one of the fastest coasters at any Disney theme park in the world!
