Did King Charles snub his grandchildren? It is no secret that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been on the outs with the members of the British Royal Family since relocating to the US in 2021.
Following various tell-all interviews and controversial docuseries, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may have burned too many bridges. The parents' actions have affected their children as they have no seats at their grandfather's coronation.
Prince Harry And Meghan Markle's Children May Not Receive An Invitation To The Coronation
The beef between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the monarchy system continues to grow, with The Sunday Times dropping the latest update — the couple's children are yet to be invited to their grandfather's upcoming coronation.
Although Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet have not been allocated spots in the royal procession, the same cannot be said for Prince William's and Kate Middleton's children. The Prince and Princess of Wales' brood — Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis — are set to be part of the upcoming event.
The trio will reportedly star in the King's Coronation procession at Westminster Abbey on May 6. Excluding Louis, his siblings are no strangers to this honor of participating in Royal ceremonies, as they previously accompanied their parents during Queen Elizabeth's funeral procession in 2022.
Like this event, leaked rehearsal plans showed that Prince William and Kate would join their children for the procession out of the Abbey. Their carriage would be behind King Charles and his Queen Consort Camilla's Gold State Coach.
Following the Wales' group would be Princess Royal, her husband Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent and Princess Alexandra.
Although Harry and Meghan have not officially announced their plans to attend or skip the coronation, staff allegedly prepared to welcome the couple and their children. However, an insider claimed there was a slim chance the Sussexes would join the celebrations.
"I'm sure they would also acknowledge the little prince’s birthday even though it’s his grandpa’s big day," the source said, explaining that Archie would turn four on King Charles' coronation.
Perhaps the doting grandpa did not request the Duke and Duchess's participation in the royal procession because of his grandson's birthday. Whatever the reason might be, May 6 would be a historic day as it marked the first coronation in 70 years.
Before her passing at 96, Queen Elizabeth II was the Head of the Commonwealth for seventy years, making her the longest-reigning monarch. In turn, Charles was the longest heir apparent before becoming the oldest to sit on the British throne.
Following his mother's death, the King's first royal action was to try to resolve the ongoing issues between the family and his youngest son, Harry. As reported, the father-of-two offered his grandchildren their Prince and Princess titles as an "olive branch."
The 74-year-old reportedly promised the titles to Prince Harry at the late Queen's funeral. The peace offering came after the Sussexes aired their concerns about Charles withholding their children's birthright.
The King's ascension to the throne automatically made Archie and Lilibet a Prince and a Princess. Before their grandfather's new status, the pair were addressed as Master and Miss on the Buckingham Palace website.
The Duke And Duchess Of Success Received An Invitation From King Charles
As previously revealed that, Prince Harry and his wife were finally invited to King Charles's coronation after months of speculations they won't have a place. The Duke reportedly received an email from the King's office shortly after the couple was evicted from Frogmore Cottage.
A source close to the Sussexes confirmed that the pair had received the invite to the coronation. However, the informant noted that the duo had not confirmed their attendance. As mentioned above, the spouses may skip their son's fourth birthday celebrations.
The lack of a home in the UK may also influence the Sussexes' decision to snub or attend the event. The King evicted the pair from their Britain home, the Frogmore Cottage, earlier this year.
Many speculated that Charles issued the eviction notice as revenge after Prince Harry released his memoir, "Spare." In the book, the 38-year-old shared shocking details about his family, from his relationship with his brother and father to comments about his stepmother.
