The Bella Twins — Brie & Nikki are entering a new chapter with a huge announcement!
Since making their WWE debut as the Bella Twins in 2007, the twins have risen to fame as phenomenal figures in the sports and entertainment industries. After over a decade of fighting in the ring, they are ready to take on the world as their authentic selves.
The Bella Twins Say Goodbye To WWE And Hello To A New Chapter
With their focus now on motherhood and entrepreneurship, amongst other things, the duo revealed their decision to put wrestling aside and take on their real names, Nikki and Brie Garcia.
During an episode of their Sirius XM show, they expressed the difficulty of letting go of their wrestling personas, especially the name "Bella," which they said was given to them by their grandfather.
Nikki shared that as "mothers, entrepreneurs, executive producers, hosts," they felt it was time to move forward and embrace new opportunities as they approached 40 in November. Concerning their decision to leave their "in-ring" personas behind, she said:
"When the WWE contract came up, mutually we all knew we just needed to head into this new chapter."
Brie conveyed her enthusiasm for closing the chapter on her former name, stating, "So excited to close that chapter on Brie Bella, put that book to the side and open up a new one and see what Brie Garcia is going to do next."
Piggybacking off that, the "Psych" guest star credited her previous identity for "empowering, inspiring and making her fearless" in being able to do the work she has done for women and the youth.
The pair have done much in the sports and entertainment industry to deserve to retire their names. Their significant influence led them to get inducted into the "WWE Hall Of Fame" in 2021. Although they were initially announced as inductees for the 2020 class, the sisters had to wait due to the pandemic as the ceremony was canceled.
In April 2021, The Blast reported that after a long wait, alongside the 2021 inductees, the twins took their rightful place in the prestigious Hall of Fame. Notable names attended the ceremony, which aired on the Peacock Network, but the Bellas stole the show dressed in their iconic red outfits. They beamed with joy as they accepted the prestigious honor from WWE.
The event was a night to remember as they took to social media to share exclusive behind-the-scenes photos and videos of the ceremony. In the footage, the twins proudly displayed their rings and plaques and expressed gratitude towards everyone who supported them throughout their journey.
The honor bestowed on them was met with an outpouring of love from their fans and colleagues all over social media. Their fellow WWE superstar Charlotte Flair referred to the Bellas as "queens" and acknowledged their impact, stating that they "have opened doors for generations to come."
The Garcia Twins' Kids Left Confused As To Which Twin Is Their Mom
While they may have used their identical looks to their advantage in the ring, their children were not quite as savvy. The famous pair shared on their podcast that their children sometimes had trouble telling them apart, leading to confusion over who was their real mom.
In a world where podcasts seem to be a dime a dozen, The Blast shared that "The Bellas Podcast" managed to stand out with its unique content. Hosted by the twins, the show offered listeners a glimpse into their lives and often shared personal stories and experiences not seen on TV or social media.
The sisters have always been transparent about their personal lives, including their relationships and experiences as mothers. Their children, Matteo Artemovich for Nikki and twins Buddy Dessert and Birdie Joe for Brie, are all close in age. This led to a rather amusing situation where their kids were confused about which twin was their mother.
In an episode, the sisters shared their experiences with this phenomenon and the challenges it has brought. In a fun little back and forth, Nikki explained a situation where Brie's kids thought she was their mother.
Brie noted that she had to convince her son while he was having a nightmare that she was his mother by squatting down and looking through the crib at him to say, "Bud-Bud, it's Mama," before he could believe her.
