Avril Lavigne Set For Deep Dive Into 21-Year Career In Disney+ Documentary

Avril Lavigne is ready to tell the world her true story two decades after her music career began.

The songstress has been a force to reckon with since she signed a two-album recording contract with Arista Records at 16. Not only did her debut studio album — "Let Go" — become the best-selling album of the 21st century by a Canadian artist, but she is also regarded as a pivotal musician in the development of pop-punk music. With these achievements, the now-38-year-old is set to headline an upcoming tell-all documentary airing on Disney+.

For somebody who paved the way for female-driven, punk-inspired pop music in the early 2000s and has a turbulent — and high profile — love life, Lavigne has enough content to share with fans in the yet-to-be-released documentary. This was confirmed by an insider who claimed:

"Avril has been hard at work on this in-depth documentary for a while now, and the makers have hundreds of hours of footage."

The source added that the singer would revisit the highs and lows of her life, including how she got her big break in the music world. Speaking further to The Sun, the insider stated:

"Avril was a teenager when she released her hit debut album, so her career has been really interesting. There's a lot to talk about."

The project, which comic actor James Corden's production company Fulwell 73, is putting together, will also focus on Lavigne's love life since she walked down the aisle with actor Deryck Whibley at age 20.

The pair, who wedded in 2006, got divorced in 2009, with the "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" star marrying Nickelback's lead vocalist Chad Kroeger in 2013. Like her first union, the couple's relationship quickly deteriorated, and they divorced in 2015.

She then dated and said 'yes' when singer Mod Sun — real name Derek Ryan Smith — asked her to become his wife last March. Unfortunately, the lovebirds split after Lavigne broke the engagement almost one year after the romantic Paris proposal.

The Blast noted that the "Love It When You Hate Me" singer's latest relationship bump was detailed by an insider who claimed that the former couple tried hard to make things work between them. Even though Lavigne ultimately ended the romance, the source emphasized that nobody had cheated during their short-lived love affair. 

Another source had disclosed that the split blindsided Sun since they "were together and engaged as of three days ago" when he left for his tour. During their time together, the "Rich Kids Ruin Everything" singer had loved his then-woman loudly, often taking time during interviews to appreciate the "Sk8er Boy" hitmaker. 

In fact, just days before the relationship crumbled, he had disclosed that the 2003 International Achievement Award winner had positively impacted his life. He also said:

"I have found such a partner in this world to go through the chaos that life gives you. I have found that person. I'm with a real grown woman who has gone through it all ten times over, and she makes me a better person."

Amid Sun mending his broken heart, Lavigne has already found a new love in the person of rapper Tyga. The music celebs were seen donning casual clothes as they dined at Nobu restaurant. While the meeting seemed innocuous, observers had another thing when the twosome shared a more-than-friendly kiss during the Ottolinger show at the Paris Fashion Week last week.

The Blast also divulged that the "Taste" rapper marked his territory by placing his arm around the "Over the Hedge" voice star's neck while looking at her intently. The besotted mates were oblivious to the crowd around them as they indulged heavily in the public display of affection.

At some point, Tyga whispered seemingly sweet nothings into his partner's ears, eliciting a winning smile from her. For the event, the "Ayy Macarena" hitmaker wore gray oversized cargo pants and a matching jacket.

Like her lover, Lavigne donned an oversized hoodie that hid her upper body, adding a white shirt with black lettering, a black-and-white pleated skirt, and thigh-high boots. She accessorized with black eyeliner and various jewelry and left her hair to flow around her face.
