'I've Just Never Had A Hamburger'
Speaking to reporters at Vanity Fair's annual Oscar party on Sunday night, Thompson let them in on a well-kept secret about her food choices.
The actress shared that she has "never had a hamburger" in her life, also noting that she is not a vegetarian when asked why she has avoided what most deem a staple food.
"I eat other things, I've just never had a hamburger," the "Creed III" star said, per People. "It's the only thing extraordinary that I can still claim."
Thompson also made another confession, revealing that she just "recently" tried an egg after avoiding it for most of her life.
On how she felt about having an egg for the first time, the actress gave a reply that hinted that she might not try it again.
"I had never had one of those. I don't think they're great," Thompson noted.
Even when it was pointed out to her that eggs could be eaten in a variety of ways, Thompson replied, "That's the problem with them. It's like, pick a lane," before noting that she loves "potatoes."
Tessa Thompson On 'Creed III'
The actress is currently basking in the limelight from the release of "Creed III," in which she stars as Bianca alongside Jordan's Adonis Creed.
From being friends to getting into a relationship and then tying the knot, their character's relationship has grown steadily across the installments.
In an interview with Refinery29, Thompson revealed that portraying the roles was not easy as "the line sometimes between character and us get blurred because we bring so much of what we're exploring personally to the characters in general."
For this, they needed couple therapy to prepare themselves before filming the third installment, which debuted in theatres on March 3.
She said of the experience, "I think it reminded us of our own personal lives that are going to therapy, even when a relationship is good, can be a good thing if you're trying to just sharpen communication and figure out how someone works. It's useful in so many relationships."
Tessa Thompson Speaks On Michael B. Jordan's Directorial Debut
Off the screen, Thompson and Jordan have bonded as friends. So, when he was given the directorial duties for "Creed III," the actress took much pride in the win.
Speaking in an interview with Looper, Thompson shared that the experience allowed her to learn a lot from her colleague, who in turn listened to her contributions in shaping Bianca's "Creed 3" journey.
She also disclosed that he had clear directions for how her character ought to look, something that the other franchise directors mostly left up to Thompson's judgment.
"I was so surprised [by] how much he cared about clothes," Thompson shared. "I've always had so much agency with Bianca because previous directors [were] like, 'I don't know. Just wear whatever you think she would wear,' and [Jordan] was so focused on that in a way that was really fascinating."
'He's A Really Fantastic Leader'
Despite this being unusual, Thompson enjoyed exploring new territory with Jordan as his director.
"You think you know someone," Thompson said. "It's so nice to be surprised by someone that you love and know super well."
She also noted that his directorial role allowed her to confirm some quality traits she had previously only assumed that he possessed.
The actress added, "I love seeing things be true about him that I suspected were, like that he's a really fantastic leader, and I love being surprised by the things that I didn't think that he would care so much about, [like] what shoes I wore."
