'VPR' Schwartz & Sandy's Slammed In Reviews After Cheating Scandal
By Kay on March 14, 2023 at 12:30 AM EDT
Schwartz and Sandy’s is taking a hit in the review department. The bar co-owned by the Vanderpump Rules friends is feeling the heat.
Tom Sandoval Screwing It Up
The lead singer of Tom Sandoval And The Most Extras has put his businesses in a bad place. The finally opened to the public Schwartz & Sandy’s is feeling the grunt of that pain in the review department.
Since Sandoval cheated on Ariana and his affair with co-stars Raquel Leviss broke the internet, he and everything around him has been imploding. The reviews have gotten so intense that Yelp has had to put a warning on Schwartz & Sandy’s review page.
“This business is being monitored by Yelp's Support team for content related to media reports.” The business maintains a solid three stars on Yelp and has 76 reviews. Luckily for you, we compiled some of the reviews pre and post-Scandoval to see just how unfair, the flood of comments post-Scandoval compare.
Schwartz & Sandy’s Biggest Complaint
On March 4 the bar began getting a lot of comments on their review page most of the comments were calling Sandoval a d**k for what he did to Ariana but some of the reviews featured digs wrapped in legitimate complaints about the bar.
Some people didn’t like the taste of their signature drink the Baby Shark. Some people were upset about the atmosphere not living up to the hype. But one of the biggest complaints is the “roaches” or one in particular, Raquel or “Roach-Qeul.
Haters who have gone to the bar claim to see the roach all over the place.
“Saw the same roach that others have mentioned in their comments. The sponge Bob Square faced roach was really trying hard and it was obvious. I kept hearing what I thought was Freddy Krueger scratching a chalkboard only to find out it was the owners cover band playing in the background. If you can - skip this place. There's a new shop opening up called Something about Her. You will love it. The ambience is much nicer there. There aren't snakes and roaches being slimy and stank.”
Another follower claimed to see the “roach taking photos at the bar like she owns the place” and others begged for the owners to bring in an exterminator.
Yelp Reviews Support Ariana Madix
Some of the reviews cleverly support Ariana Madix in a tongue-in-cheek way. “They don't sell sandwiches??!!! Name is uninspired. Owners were super creepy. Got horrible food poisoning. Margarita tasted like lemonade. It's not about the pasta”
They referenced the hopeful sandwich shop that Ariana and Katie Maloney are attempting to start. And referenced the time Katie called the name of the bar “uninspired’.
Others called out the bar in some legitimate reviews.
“Nothing too exciting on the menu. We ordered the Baby Shark and it was the worst drink I have ever had, from taste to presentation. Wait staff was very slow and we were there on a Wednesday night so it wasn't very busy. Hopefully they can step it up. Ambiance is neat but they need to figure out the lighting, it was so bright when we got there and then they dimmed it incredibly low.”
Pre-Scandoval Reviews Were Lackluster As Well
Before Tom screwed over Ariana, the reviews for the bar were suspect as well. One reviewer who went didn’t like the vibe and claimed the bar was dead on a Saturday. Isn’t that like a huge day for bars?
“Dead on a Saturday night, which is lucky because there was 1 extremely slow and unfriendly bartender who served up awful drinks (we all had the espresso one). The theme was all over the place, tropical grandma's house with gaudy fixtures. It's also located in a super random part of LA in a strip mall next to a pet store and a Gelson's across the street. The busboys were great though and super friendly! to feel the Vanderpump Rules vibes Save your $$ and stick to Pump to feel the Vanderpump Rules vibes.”
"This won't last long, an over thought concept that is not sustainable. The menu sucks." Some were extremely happy with their experience.
“Amazing!!! The food is delicious. The drinks are strong and taste like no way I could make them at home. The arugula drink was amazing and the sliders are out of this world. Everyone was super friendly and the ambience and all the detail of the restaurant was really cool to see. Also parking which is a huge plus! Highly recommend.”
Hopefully Schwartz & Sandy’s will survive this reality TV mess.
