Disney Cruise Line Announces Opening Timeline For It's New Island

Ahoy mateys -- Get ready to set sail aboard the Disney Cruise Line as a brand-new island destination will be welcoming Guests next year!

For those cruisers who love to travel the world, be sure to add Lighthouse Point, located on the island of Eleuthera in The Bahamas, to your bucket list because it will be opening in Summer of 2024.

Lighthouse Point will welcome Disney Guests with its one-of-a-kind brightly colored architecture, created and designed in collaboration with local artists.

According to Disney Parks Blog, "The curvilinear buildings will at first appear as Bahamian shells scattered along the shoreline. Upon closer inspection, guests will discover artistic expressions of the native flora and fauna of The Bahamas and the pageantry and history of Junkanoo parades. Throughout the destination, references to playful folklore characters will evoke the warmth and charm of the local culture."

When building this new destination, both Disney and the local artists kept the environment at the top of their mind as, per Disney, "at least 90 percent of the destination’s electricity needs will be met by an onsite solar array, the pier was designed to avoid the need for dredging and elevated walkways will help limit the impact on the landscape."

Families will be able to relax on the sandy beaches while soaking up the sun, splash around in the turquoise water, or embark on an adventure alongside Disney characters.

For those cruisers who have sailed on Disney Cruise Line before, Lighthouse Point will offer similar amenities as Disney's first private island, Castaway Cay, does.

Disney Parks Blog reports, "Families can relax and play along white sandy beaches and turquoise waters at the expansive family beach on the east side of the island, which will be centrally located near market-style dining, recreation, and other amenities." Some of those amenities include volleyball, nature trails for hiking, biking trails, and a gaga ball pit.

Lighthouse Point will also offer new Port Adventures that can be booked through Disney Cruise Line -- each developed in partnership with local tour operators. These Port Adventures will give Guests the opportunity to explore beyond Lighthouse Point and see the beauty of Eleuthera, Bahamas.

For those little ones, Lighthouse Point will offer an interactive family water play area, which will consist of two slides, water drums, fountains, and more.

And for those adults wishing to have some quiet time, Lighthouse Point will offer an adults-only beach, which Disney describes as "a glorious stretch of sun-drenched serenity complete with a dedicated dining area for convenient access to food and drinks throughout the day, plus six private cabanas available by reservation."

Disney Parks Blog just announced today that Lighthouse Point will begin welcoming Guests on select sailings beginning in the summer of 2024.

In the meantime, Guests sailing on Disney Cruise Line can experience Disney's first private island, Castaway Cay, on select sailings out of Port Canaveral and Miami, Florida.
