Chris Pratt Receives Some Heat For Excluding Ex Wife Anna Faris From IWD Tribute

Chris Pratt is at the receiving end of backlash...AGAIN!

Actor Chris Pratt honored the women in his life for Internation Women's Day. However, his ex-wife, Anna Faris, didn’t make the list of honorees, causing an uproar from netizens. 

It’s been six years since the “Jennifer Bodys” actor and the “Scary Movie” actress called it quits on their marriage from which they had a son. Pratt moved on to marry the eldest daughter of actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Katherine Schwarzenegger. 

Although Pratt and Faris are no longer together, fans seem to think the actor should acknowledge the actress in his tribute for IWD. 

In celebration of International women’s day, the 41-year-old actor took to Instagram to praise the women in his life. He shared a group photo of his wife, mother-in-law, Maria Shiver, and sister-in-law, Christina Schwarzenegger, all dressed in black outfits. Pratt also added throwback photos of his mom and sister.

In the post’s caption, the Marvel star expressed, “We would be nothing if it weren't for the women in our lives. From my wife, my mom, and sister to all the incredible women on my team who hold it down everyday.”

He further congratulated his wife and mother-in-law for winning the Visionary Women's 2023 Changemaker of the Year award. In the concluding parts of the caption, Pratt urged his followers to "tag an inspiring woman in your life and show them some love."

However, fans noted that Pratt had exempted his ex-wife in his tribute and took to admonishing him. One follower questioned, “where’s the other mother of your child?” while another commented, “You’re forgetting your ex-wife who birthed your beautiful son.” 

A Twitter user observed, “Why is it that when Chris Pratt talks about his current wife and kids with her that it sounds like he’s shitting on Anna Faris and their kid together lol.” One more fan asked, “What about the woman who gave you your child.”

While some fans were lashing at the actor, one other follower defended Pratt, saying his obligations were to his present wife. The internet user wrote, “People stop worrying about Anna Faris. He has a wife. It is not appropriate or loving to his wife.” One other netizen replied to this opinion, writing, “Appreciating the mother of your child is inappropriate to his current wife? That’s a weird stance.”

This is not the first time fans have called out the “Parks and Recreation” actor over his behavior towards Faris. In 2021, Pratt received heavy backlash for a post that seemingly shaded Farris. 

As The Blast reported, it happened the “Passengers” actor made a post celebrating his wife, Katherine, on her birthday. An excerpt of the post read, “She’s given me an amazing life, a gorgeous healthy daughter, she chews so loudly that sometimes I put in my ear buds to drown it out, but that’s love! She helps me with everything.”

What triggered most people in the post was the fact that he said Katherine had given him a healthy child. Many found this offensive because Pratt’s son with Faris was born prematurely and likely had special needs.

A fan expressing their displeasure over the post wrote, “This is literally so gross. It reads like ‘my new wife gave me a *healthy* child unlike you, Anna Faris.’ Anna and Jack deserve so much better.”

Another comment read, "Sending love ❤️ to Anna Faris who has moved on to happier times with an amazing new husband. Who isn’t a narcissistic douchebag. Like her ex. Chris Pratt."

Shortly after netizens' onslaught on Pratt, he broke his silence on the conversation. The "Terminal List" actor posted a video on his Instagram stories expressing his feelings. 

“Good morning, everybody, I went to bed last night really kind of upset and depressed, and I woke up feeling crappy,” he started his video. He continued, “I didn’t want to work out, but I knew that if I put on my Christian music playlist and got out in the woods and ran that I’d feel better.”

During this run in the woods, he noted that God had visited him. He said, “I got out in the woods and got my blood pumping, and God just sat down there right next to me,” Pratt preached.

He then advised his followers, who felt down, to relax by running outside and putting on some worship music.
