Actress Christine Taylor and her husband, Ben Stiller, are proof that love conquers all and marriage takes two to work.

In an industry like Hollywood where celebrity marriages rarely stand the test of time, the duo is going strong after several decades despite hitting a bump in the road.

In 2017, the celebrity couple announced they were going their separate ways after eighteen years of marriage and two kids. However, in February 2022, the pair broke the Internet with news of their decision to continue their marriage. Now, Taylor spoke on how such sweet reconciliation was possible.

While on a recent episode of “The Drew Barrymore Show,” the “Party Girl” star discussed how she and her husband rekindled their strained marriage.

“You know we got married very quickly after meeting each other, ” the 51-year-old said. “We knew each other six months, got married within a year, and then had Ella the next year. ”

“The Wedding Singer” actress continued, “Family was always a priority, but I think Ben and I both started to grow in different directions, and when we made the decision to separate, it was not something we wanted to talk publicly about. It was not something we both took lightly either.”

The mom of two noted the process she and her husband had to go through to get it right again. She said, “We both had this sort of impasse of, like, let’s figure out what’s best, like what’s best for us in this chapter of our lives.”

She continued, “That's going back three or four years for each of us to get to know who we are. I think we have these growth spurts even as adults, and I think we both had to figure that out.”

However, while the couple was separated, Taylor disclosed that they still had a family bond. “And we always stayed a family unit, ”she emphasized. “We continued to do things together; continued to see shows together, birthday parties. All of it.”

We had so much time to talk, so much time. There was no other distraction.” Taylor added that the whole reuniting process happened “organically and naturally.”

Further into the discussion, Barrymore asked Taylor how her present relationship with Stiller was. Taylor had happily shared that she and her man had a long history together, and they’ve learned what works for them.

The insider added, “Even after they decided to separate, they spent time together just the two of them. They always had fun and enjoyed hanging out. They never even dated other people after they separated."

He said, “We were separated and got back together, and we’re happy about that. It’s been really wonderful for all of us. Unexpected, and one of the things that came out of the pandemic.”

The “Zoolander” star explained that they learned in the relationship to respect and accept each other’s similarities and differences. In his words:

“I think we have a respect for the ways that we’re similar and the ways we’re different. And I think accepting that you can really appreciate someone more because you’re not trying to get them to change for you.”

The Hollywood veteran added that what helped them was understanding what worked for them, plus sharing a profound trust in each other.

Recall that in May 2017, the pair broke the sad news of their split with a heartbreaking joint statement.
