Osborn shared the experience on his Instagram page with a carousel of photos from the scary event.
"Most of the time the saying goes 'wrong place wrong time.' But this time I believe God had me, us, at the right place at the exact right time," he began his caption. "Last night myself and these 3 absolute heroโs helped save a mans life by rescuing him from a vehicle up in flames after a bad crash. A situation Iโd never imagine being apart of in a million years."
He concluded his caption with a message, "Iโll leave you with this. God is real. And His LOVE is real. He will send his angels to be camped around you and provide you with his grace and mercy. ๐"
KJ Osborn Told His Story On "Good Morning Football"
Osborn, 25, was in an Uber when his driver saw flames coming out of a car on the side of the road in Austin, Texas on Sunday night. The NFL player recounted the scary evening with the NFL Network's "Good Morning Football."
"I was in the back of an Uber and I say my head was down and my Uber driver started yelling. I'm like, what's going on," he said. "To the right, I see a car that has just crashed into like a pillar under a bridge. And it was a fire."
As they got closer to the wreckage, they began to think the worst about whoever was in the car at the time of the crash. "We passed the car and the airbags were out and we didn't see anybody, so at that moment I was thinking the worst. I didn't think that guy was alive," he said.
He then explained that the Uber driver pulled over and called the police, and he ran over to the car but started to think about the car possibly blowing up because of the fire.
"My Uber driver went right down, opened up the passenger door, trying to see if this guy was alive. We see he was alive," he said. "We kind of keep going back and forth, back and forth because we didn't have any knowledge of this car if it was going to blow up. The driver was able to muster enough strength to be able to move his upper body over to the passenger side."
That's when Osborn, along with three other good Samaritans, one of them being the Uber driver, were able to pull him out of the car. "We didn't know if this car was going to blow up, so that's when I picked him up. He's bleeding, his blood is on me, I carry him maybe 10 or 15 yards," he explained.
Osborn said the driver of the crash was taken to the hospital by ambulance and his injuries didn't seem serious during Monday's episode of "The Adam Schefter Podcast." He also said he plans to meet up with his fellow rescuers and the man they saved at some point.
