Stephen Bing was fighting an addiction to methamphetamines and relapsed days before leaping to his death from the balcony of his 27th story luxury apartment building, according to the autopsy report just released by officials. The Blast obtained a copy of the autopsy and death report released by the LA County Dept. of Medical Examiner-Coroner, and detail the final results after the investigation into the death of the troubled "Kangaroo Jack" writer. Although Bing and Elizabeth Hurley were long broken up at the time of his death, the actress detailed how sad she was for the troubled life he led.

According to officials, 55-year-old Stephen Bing died in June 2020 from multiple blunt force trauma after jumping from the balcony of his 27th-floor apartment in Los Angeles. The cause of death was ruled a suicide. According to the report, Bing was reported to have "been struggling with substance abuse and had been transitioning through a phase of depression."
The report also states Bing, who is the father of Hurley's son Damian, had struggled with "methamphetamine addiction," and that he had "relapsed days prior to the incident."
At the time of his death, Bing had meth and other drugs in his system, according to the toxicology report.

Investigators stated that Bing had entered into a phase of depression, and was cancelling meetings and "avoiding social interaction," in the days leading up to his death. While gathering evidence, officials found text messages on Bing's phone from people reaching out who were concerned about his well-being.
Although there were drugs found in his system during the toxicology screening, no illegal drugs or paraphernalia was recovered from the scene.

Last year after the tragic death, Elizabeth Hurley broke her silence on social media about how saddened she was by the incident.
"I am saddened beyond belief that my ex Steve is no longer with us. It is a terrible end. Our time together was very happy and I’m posting these pictures because although we went through some tough times, it’s the good, wonderful memories of a sweet, kind man that matter," Hurley wrote.
She added, "In the past year we had become close again. We last spoke on our son’s 18th birthday. This is devastating news and I thank everyone for their lovely messages ."
