New TRON Ride Is A Perfect Addition To Disney World: Here's Why

Guests will soon be able to ride a brand-new rollercoaster at Magic Kingdom inside Walt Disney World next month.

TRON Lightcycle / Run is set to open in the Tomorrowland section of Magic Kingdom in April, but Walt Disney World Annual Passholders were able to experience the new coaster for the first time this weekend.

I was one of those Annual Passholders, and after riding the new roller coaster, I was left feeling a multitude of emotions.

In the past, Disney has stated that the new TRON Lightcycle / Run will be one of the fastest coasters at any Disney theme park in the world -- and I can confirm this.

Going into the experience, I tried not to watch any spoiler videos or read too much about the ride, so I still had the element of surprise that comes with riding a new attraction. With that being said, I did not expect the speed of this roller coaster, especially for an attraction within Magic Kingdom -- a Park that is known for its family-friendly experiences and not its thrill rides. With that being said, do not go in expecting to ride a thrill coaster that one may find at another theme park such as Busch Gardens or Universal -- though, this is certainly the fastest coaster in Magic Kingdom specifically.

For those of you who have ridden Rock 'n' Roller Coaster at Disney's Hollywood Studios, TRON Lightcycle / Run starts off very similar -- with a launch. Though I don't think you go quite as fast as you do on Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, you still go at a decent speed, giving riders the perfect amount of adrenaline.

With all of this being said, I probably wouldn't wait hours to ride this coaster, but it is still a great addition to Magic Kingdom for those who are looking for a bit more of a thrill ride.

Although I loved the thrill aspect of TRON, I was disappointed with how short the attraction felt. My adrenaline was just starting to shoot up and I felt as though I was still taking everything in as suddenly, I realized that the ride was coming to an end. I was left wanting a bit more.

Despite the length of the ride, TRON Lightcycle / Run is still a great ride for adrenaline junkies who are visiting Magic Kingdom.

Guests are excited for when TRON Lightcycle / Run opens at Magic Kingdom. According to the Walt Disney World website, TRON Lightcycle / Run is described as:

Lean forward into the ultimate race of survival! Leave the real world behind and join Team Blue in an epic quest across the Grid—the dark, computerized world with no horizons from TRON. Here, there’s no limit to the excitement.

Climb aboard your very own Lightcycle and take off on a high-speed adventure, racing against the Grid’s most menacing Programs. Surge past your fierce opponents as you attempt to cross through 8 Energy Gates and secure your team’s victory—so you can survive to race another day.

If Guests want to ride the new TRON rollercoaster when it opens to the public, they must use the Virtual Queue system Disney has implemented. Disney has stated, “A virtual queue will be in place when TRON Lightcycle / Run opens on April 4, 2023. Guests will need to use the My Disney Experience app to enter the attraction. A standby queue will not be available. Each Guest can enter the virtual queue no more than once per day during regular park hours. Boarding groups for a virtual queue are limited, subject to availability, and are not guaranteed.”

Guests also have the option to purchase Individual Lightning Lane to gain entry for this attraction once it opens.

TRON Lightcycle / Run will open to Guests at Walt Disney World on April 4, 2023.
