The gunmen opened fire in the grocery store and left behind a chilling message for the World Cup winner.

The note read, "Messi, we’re waiting for you. (Mayor Pablo) Javkin is also a drug trafficker, so he won’t take care of you.”

Fortunately, no one in the grocery store, which is owned by Roccuzzo’s parents, was harmed during the attack.

Unfortunately, no suspects have been identified, but authorities have begun a “preliminary” investigation.

Mayor Javkin visited the crime scene on Thursday and reportedly put the blame on federal authorities.

He reportedly called them out for their failure to curb a surge in drug-related violence in Rosario, Argentina.

Mayor Javkin told local media, "I doubt everyone, even those who are supposed to protect us.”

This terrifying attack comes just days after Messi took home the FIFA Best award.

Messi took home more than a World Cup winner title. He also took the “most liked” Instagram post title.
